Quick update on this: We have deployed a fix that means new Mastery Pass purchases will work properly, players that purchased between 10/15 and that fix are, unfortunately, still unable to properly earn Mastery Pass rewards. We are continuing to work to solve that problem, and we will ensure that all players get all of the Mastery Pass rewards they have earned.
Weird they didn’t address the mastery rewards thing. Has it been addressed before?
We are still looking into the reports of issues with the Mastery Pass; more info there as we get it
The Patch Notes are great, but the actual patch would be better. Still waiting...
; )
Patch was delayed, but it is live as of ~20 min ago. If you're actively playing, you may need to relaunch to pick it up. (Make sure to use the launcher on desktop, or check the app stores on mobile)
Anyone know who they are?
Ian Adams, Design Manager & Product Owner of Card Sets, is usually the one writing the Patch Notes.
He's a treasure.
Ian is the one writing (most of) the funny bits in the patch notes, yes. The rest of us also write other bits that are not as entertaining (because we're not as funny as Ian).
And you're 100% right that he's a treasure
Hey, thanks for the report! We've looked into this issue generally, and we don't see evidence in our data of players missing Mastery Pass rewards.
If you're still seeing this issue after closing and re-opening the client, please do contact CS ( https://mtgarena-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new ) and specify "Account Issues", so they can look into your account directly
I’ve played my Rip spawn hunter deck in brawl and the bug happened 3 times the first two times I conceded cause I thought it was going to draw my deck and I was going to lose. The third time I let it play out cause I wanted to see if it actually would and it stopped about 27 cards I won that game and haven’t played it in since. I’m hoping that’s good enough.
You should be fine, yes. That behavior would clearly look non-exploitive in the way we check
Sorry for the disruption here; this bug is now fixed. (If you're actively playing, you may need to restart to pick up the change)
A free ass whooping is what I got lol
Hahaha. That guy's brutal. Fun fact: People think that designers are the people who will be best at a game. False. Always fear QA.
Should i try to not play my convoke Buxton deck until this bug is patched? I had that happen to me right now with Wylie duke atiin hero and don't want to that as exploit. My deck is full of cards who are triggering tapped and convoke is the deck style
Until we get this fixed, I would hold off on playing that deck, unfortunately. Though you might be playing innocently, it could still be exploiting the issue. We are working to fix this soon
What about players who didn't know about the bug? Will i get banned simply because the bug happened? Ill admit it happened twice because the first time i thought it was something either i or an opponent played.
When reviewing player records for issues like this, we allow a bit of grace so that players like you describe are not caught up in the search. This isn't about "Zero tolerance; you did it once and you're banned". We look to understand the difference between an innocent player who was surprised by the bug and someone who is clearly exploiting.
It sounds nuanced, but it's not usually hard to tell the difference - Did you use a deck that abuses the bug in 5-10 games with a ~50% winrate? Probably not exploiting then. Did you play 50+ games with a 65% winrate? Yeah, you knew what you were doing.
Why is it ban worthy if it’s in the game and no cheating is required?
As others have said, because exploiting obvious bugs in order to abuse other players is considered cheating, and it is not tolerated. We will use a bit of a grace (won't ban everyone who got even 1 win off a deck like this), but players who are repeatedly using a deck built to exploit this and get an artificially high winrate know exactly what they're doing.
Hey, thanks for the report. We are aware and looking into this issue. We will be scanning data for players exploiting this issue, and we will be temp/perma banning as appropriate.

Edit: This bug should now be fixed; sorry for the disruption! (You may need to restart to pick up the fix if you are actively playing now)

The other comments are correct once you've finished drafting. You get rewards for what you've won so far.
One time I got sleepy and stopped mid draft (may have even been P1P1), and they fully reimbursed me. Not sure if that is always the case, but might be a thing.
If the event ends and you haven't completed your draft, you should get automatically reimbursed
Off the top of my head, as someone playing since beta, other examples of "card styles" that existed before actual card styles that can't be acquired are: Duress, Ghalta, Firemind's research, Tef 5, Ral 5, Vraska 4. (There maybe more)
Not positive either, but I think that's an accurate list
Isn't card weighting only for Brawl queue?
Deck-based weighting applies in Brawl and the Play queues. It is not used at all in any rank queues
Dude did not use any flying creatures 😂 mono black discard
Are you saying that he was, himself, a hypnotic specter?
Thanks! Does this refer to both Standard Brawl and Brawl?
Standard Brawl and Brawl both use the same basic matchmaking system, yes
