I've been meaning to ask you, have you gotten a peak at the Quetzali skin? They'd look so magnificent with swordsmans using a macuahuitl, archers using an atlatl or even sporting feather helmets that the elite Aztec eagle warriors used.

p.s. I hope Ai-Mo gets a skin referencing their Andean/Inca heritage, like a Chullo would be beautiful. Swordsman could use an Inca star mace, archers a bolas... sorry I've been going on a tangent.

I have seen them. No telling. :P

Why didn't they retain ports 2 population?

We wanted people to get on the water faster, so we brought the cost down. We didn't want to give people a 5*/2pop building, so it was reduced.

Why listen to those complaints and ignore the many complaints about the new road/bridges?

We did reduce the cost of Bridges, as people suggested. They were 10.

The Road nerf is more of a necessity, due to how strong Roads are. Roads are still really powerful, despite the nerf.

Can you of Midjiwan block none updated games from Multiplayer ?

Today I join a 9 players game where 8 where version 101 and only 1 little kido was 89. And there is no way to tell him to quit.

There was no other rooms of 9 players.

Why should we be forced to play old version when today we specially want to play new, just because of one stupide guy that doesn't understand that he has the "satinhoo" spirit in him.

Why isn't an option for minimum Game version for each multiplayer game.

Just give it a few days and more people will update.

You can also find players on our Discord.

Really disappointed with how much this changes the game. I’m all for adding features but nerfing existing ones is a bad idea that’s just going to piss off long-time players, and the comments I’m seeing here today attest to that. The cost/reward value of so many things has changed it will require a completely different strategy to play now.

The devs seem resistant to including a classic version but based on the feedback I’m seeing, I would seriously reconsider.

Some things just need to be nerfed. Bardur and the Rider/Roads strategy were things we'd hear complaints about every day, so this was the time to fix them. The game had some clear balance problems, and we set out to correct them.

The meta was stale and we were being asked to adjust it, so we did.

What don't you like about it? Maybe we can discuss it. :)

I'm seeing this a lot, and not at all about what the players want. Even though they keep telling you this is awful.

This particular change was actually quite well received by our many beta testers during our testing period.

Wasn't it already a blend? Whenever I started in the middle of the map, I'd have to use other techs to expand my land, or run all over settling new villages, to start building ports. But by that time, it made more sense to upgrade catapults and knights. So it had become the land game.

Its like, it used to be the random map that would determine your game and it was always a surprise and something new, and now you've just boxed everything into this very precise way of playing.

Honestly, not really. Battleships were often considered OP by many, and naval fights were decided by who had more, especially if they used a Giant.

So much so that many players opted for Drylands maps just to not have naval, since it was considered boring/OP. This update was to help fix that. We want Naval to be fun and interesting - More than just shoving Battleships together.

None of your multi-players liked it, or even most of the nonPVP players complained about it?

You'd be surprised. It was usually a reoccurring complaint by a lot of people throughout the years. Casuals, competitives, and plenty in between were asking for "the naval rework".

A lot of balance discussion focused around Battleships, and this was our opportunity to rectify it.

I hardly ever get three stars as it is. Usually the archers destroy me before I can build. It has to be a perfect map and set up to get 3star domination and now? Impossible. I can't even get to my fish resource until after I buy ports, which is a waste of a turn because I want to collect my fish first then build a port. Like, what is the point of doing ports before fishing? That makes zero sense. And now I don't even get 2 pop for a port, just one, and it's three stars cheaper but does that matter when it doesn't give you the four pop star upgrade? It's so unenjoyable now. Like, the more I've tried to play the worse its gotten. I might have liked this game as another option, but as the only option? Not at all.

So, the reason for the Sailing/Fishing switch was 2fold:

  1. During beta testing, testers made it clear that it was now too easy to get into the water and it was OP, so we moved resources away from Coastal cities a little in order to balance them a little more with land cities. Midjiwan thinks Coastal cities should be a little harder to upgrade compared to land cities as they have access to the water. So, pros and cons.

  2. Logic. You need boats in order to get to the fish.

Ports were originally 5 stars/1 pop in order to get people onto the water faster, which was a big want for this update. But 5 stars was too fast, so it was nerfed to 7. We added Aqua Farms and more fish in order to help compensate.

This is actually intentional, as we don't want Aquarion to be a land-focused tribe.

After all, they're fish people, and should be more water focused.

Yeah, pretty much. Polytopia is meant to be an ever-changing game, and we don't want to be stuck in the past forever.

The point was to nerf roads in this update, as they are still really strong.

Okay. But when you play Domination > Crazy every single day and cannot choose the map type, Pangea is random and uncontrollable as a game type. The update changes everything without providing the ability to control certain parameters. Can I just have my daily game back via an opt-out selection for the gameplay features?

Have you given Creative Domination a try? We added it to allow you to get more control over the maps you play and some additional parameters.
