E.g. The platforms for the terra embermane as well as the fountain thingy from frostwuif?

If so, how would this interact with the level 50 behemoths just as the chronovore and thrax.

This would allow for some sicckkk combos in my personal opinion, and give reason to switch between weapons. Managing the ability cooldowns between weapons would offer some new challenges.

Or, ya know. Balancing...

Some things will carry over, like the whirling blades summoned by a Kharabak UE for instance or the buff from the repeater drops. We are still balancing which exactly will carry over and which kinds of effects should be restricted to the weapon.

Creating cool new combos is exactly the idea though.

I'm curious how many players would like this. Once upon a time, there was no HP bar at all - not even the hearts. In some ways, that adds to "immersion" but in other ways, it's hard to know how much you're doing.

Would y'all like to see big boss health bars at the top of the screen?

And will anything else be coming in this update? Such as radiant and umbral elemental effects?

On the books, definitely we will be exploring them. If we can find a fun design for these, yes - personally, I don't think dauntless will be complete without them. ;)

I have everything in my slayers path, it is 100% complete, is that changing? or just adding more stuff? because if all this is changing why not just make a Dauntless 2 ???? I'm concerned because I worked my player off good to get where she is at.

We are 100% taking time to plan how player's progression will carry over into any new systems. The Slayers Path bonuses from reforging will remain important. And the borders earned will remain / be earned in other ways. You will not log in to find you're back at level 1, but you also will likely not be at max level for every weapon, since the overall ceiling is being raised.

Each reforge will be honored and carried over in the new system -- how exactly, we'll be discussing the plan in an AMA like this much closer to the release.

Like Charrogg for instance is weak to wound damage and others are more prone to stagger damage. Will behemoths have to be balanced to meet the match of this weapon overhaul?

Yes, Behemoths will get slightly stronger. put another way, we anticipate encounters to take slightly longer than they do now.

oh yes

On top of this will we be able to switch to 2 different weapons of the same group but different types, such as switching between 2 different swords, or 2 different warpikes, opposed to only being able to switch to 2 different weapons

You'll have two weapons equipped at a time. And it will be unlocked in the slayer's path --- relatively early, but not so early to overwhelm new playesr.

Yes, 2 weapons of similar types is a-ok.

I just wonder if any kind of side activities like these will be implemented that have a bit of teeth to them. Slaying behemoths with different kinds of weapons and builds is fun, but eventually it does get boring. And that boredom only arrives quicker if there is nothing else to take our attention every now and then.

There is LOTS that we haven't talked about yet :D you don't know everything!

Side activities — potentially some, but most will still be related to hunting. What we are planning to focus on is making hunting more dynamic and exciting. Rather than load in, find behemoth, kill it, repeat. You may stumble across... a few other things that grab your attention ;)

Thank you. I have been fighting to keep this game alive and trying my best to entice new players to the game. But it's very hard somethings especially in the last year.

I'm very excited for everyone to dig in to what we're working on.

This is something we're certainly talking about. Effects that trigger on swap. Depends if its fun to play once we get into it.

We've got these in the plan - but don't have a solid design for yet. I don't think Dauntless will be complete until we get them, personally ;)

To be honest, you all help by participating in these chats. We always come away with more insight into what's important to you - and sometimes your questions trigger great conversations that lead to new features or better ideas!

you will be instantly yeeted into the sky and land back in ramsgate.

Like the current exotics would be in that class, but you could also make new, weapon variant exotics.

E.g. Excalibur, a slower sword with higher damage Or a spear instead of a pike, allowing you to throw and retrieve your spear.

Could be cool, could be crap, 1 way to find out

Most weapons will feel more like the exotics of today

and since weapons are now compiled from multiple behemoths, will there still be anything thats rewarded from hunting only a single behemoth?

weapons are supposed to be highly unique after this update, but are you willing to share to what extent theyll be the same? you gave as a loose example "a frost sword that uses the old sword moveset and a blaze sword that uses the new sword moveset", which is probably not accurate, but if it were true then the two weapons wouldnt even be recognizable as swords beyond aesthetics. how many combos do you expect to be shared between two weapons of the same type on average, what will tie them together as both being swords and not entirely different things?

...

Likely, especially at first, less weapons total - but more unique playstyles than the current suite of weapons.

Yes, we are 100% planning to make sure everyone is fairly compensated for their account's progress when things change.

How much is the same — depends on the weapon. In the video in the blog you can see the Umbral sword has a totally different set of combos than the frost one. But there will likely be a sword that has the same combos as the frost one but different special abilities or passives.

Expect Behemoths to be stronger overall than they are right now. I expect total fight times to increase slightly across the board.
