This patch is focusing on fixes, balance, and improvements.

We're currently in the process of switching the VOIP service, which should fix all the existing issues and prevent new ones in the future. At the moment though, it had to be disabled to finish the setup. Once done, there won't be a need for a new patch, just a quick server restart, so no downtime. Shouldn't take more than a few days.

Just to get some things out of the way: there won’t be a January community devlog or a Q&A in this post. There’s enough to read through as-is! If you have something you’d like to ask the devs, head over to our Discord[discord.gg] and check out #announcements for a link to a submission form.

The whole team is back in the office after the holidays and are already hard at work! We’re excited to push our first patch of the year and introduce a few new things, plus some fixes and improvements.

-Added Giant Walls, as well as Giant Wall Gates. This additional type of base defense is geared towards clans protecting strategic locations in their claimed Oases.
This type of base defense is only available to the clan owning the Oasis.

Well, 2020 is finally over! And what a year it's been, huh?

A good chunk of the team took a much-needed break over the holiday, so no changelog or in-depth analyses of aspects of the design and dev process to be had here (sorry! There’ll be a patch next week).

Instead, I’m gonna get all sappy and dedicate this post to featuring you - the community.

This will be the last patch until January! We want the game to be stable over the holidays, as many of us will be taking a few days off to eat gingerbread cookies with some wine, so this patch is focusing on fixes and improvements. If it turns out an urgent fix is needed before January, we’ll still patch that in though, so don’t worry.

We’re bundling our Community Devlog with this week’s content push since we had some bigger posts for Season 2: the Poaching Hut and Hard Maps!

To allow for a more fair progression, we’re doing a slow rollout with hard maps like we’ve done in the past! We’re going to start spawning them this Friday, so get ready!

We use this approach because we feel it aligns well with player progression. Sure, there are some groups that may have been waiting for Hard maps for longer than others, but transitioning over time rather than all at once means that more dedicated groups don’t just steamroll to the end right at the start of a season and that there is an overall more fair progression pace.

We’re doing one last content push to the Beta Branch before everything is brought over to the main servers during the wipe this Sunday (which happens at 5 pm CET / 11 AM ET).

This post is just going to cover what’s in this push, and we’ll have a more in-depth post on Sunday.

To repeat a few important points:

-This is a full wipe of the main server and private servers.

-BB will be closed for the time being, but will open again in the future.

-Season 2 does not mean a full release. Xbox is also not a full release.


This week, alongside many other additions and improvements, we’re introducing a Small and a Large Base Walker Packer - allowing you to pack small Walkers and Walkers of any size respectively. They can be built only in bases due to their structure and should allow for more convenience and utility when owning a base, both for switching between Walkers and when moving to another oasis.

Well, Nomads, the day has finally arrived: We’re announcing the date for wipe, plus sharing our plan for Xbox release!

Since our Early Access release back in March, we've been showered with requests to make the game available on consoles and today we're finally ready to announce that by popular demand, Last Oasis will be coming to Xbox One as well as the next generation Xbox Series X and Series S in Q1 2021.

More so, the game will support cross-play from day one, allowing everyone to play together regardless of the platform on both official and private servers. We’d like to remind you that all the changes on the Beta Branch are experimental and in relatively early states, so it’s entirely possible that there will be significant changes to one aspect or another before the update goes live on public servers. We’re constantly reading your feedback and discussions, and checking statistics on everything that’s going on in the game to potentially balance or even overhaul some of the features.

The BB is going to be continuously updated. This means fixes and changes could be implemented at least weekly. We know that there are going to be bugs in the Commerce Update that’s available on the BB, and that there’s room for polish. Everything in the BB is subject to change. Keep that in mind when you launch the branch!

The BB will be up for around a month. We want to do plenty of testing before we bring the update and changes over to the main branch, and that will take some time.

We know there was some confusion surrounding why we're delaying the wipe, and we wanted to answer some of the questions we've seen.

Q: WILL THERE STILL BE A WIPE?
A: Y E S. We are still planning on wiping the game, just not in October like we originally stated.

Q: OKAY BUT WHEN IS THE MAIN BRANCH WIPE GOING TO HAPPEN?
A: We don’t have an exact date yet for the main branch wipe. We want to open up the beta branch first and see how that goes before we set any date. Once we do know when we want a wipe to happen, we’ll give plenty of heads up.

Q: WHAT IS THE PTR AND HOW WILL IT WORK?
A: We’re going to be calling it “BB” for Beta Branch instead of “PTR”. The main difference is that this branch will be active for a longer duration than PTR, which would run only for a few days, and also that BB will be getting periodic updates up until it becomes official with a wipe. NEWS ON THE COMMERCE UPDATE

We've been preparing for the Commerce Update and reading your feedback, and we'll be opening a new permanent Beta Branch to test all the changes. All new upcoming updates, including Commerce, will be going to the new branch, while the main branch will stay with a stable version up until all the changes are fully tested and approved.

What it means in practice is that official servers will not be wiped in October and you'll be able to play there normally. Instead, the new branch will be launched on the same date (still TBA) with all the changes we're planning for the Commerce Update. You'll be able to freely choose which version you want to play on at any point and both will fully work with dynamic tile burns and map numbers.

We heard the feedback that collecting lava could be a better process. Introducing: The Camelop Walker, named after an extinct genus of camels, which acts as a pump to help with farming lava (and water!). It can hold very large amounts of liquids, but doesn't have a proper deck, so cannot be spawned on.

Pumping water is straightforward and relatively safe, but lava requires a smart approach and planning, as this fragile Walker can be damaged by it unlike most others. While it will be a challenge to overcome for those who want to acquire very larg... Read more
