Hey everyone!

I'm sure you've noticed we've been doing a number of hotfixes since Chapter 2 launched to improve various aspects of the release. On top of those, we've also been hard at work on a number of features and improvements that require a client update and so here we are! A quick note on the patch timing: We wanted to get these out to you ASAP so the patch notes "editorials'' and other things we usually do are going to be a bit more sparse than usual. We've got some new features, balance changes, as well as a host of bug fixes, so let's get into them.

Hey y'all, we've got a second hotfix on the back of yesterday's to clean up some issues with matchmaking.

  • Fixed an issue where players would be put on servers in suboptimal regions, resulting in higher pings. This appears to have been most common in Europe.
    • Important note: your preferred region will still not be chosen 100% of the time. The matchmaking system can potentially put you into a different region (where ping is still low enough to be playable) if it cannot make a match in your preferred region within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Fixed a rare matchmaking issue issue where BR players could sometimes end up in a match with all bots, even though a player match could be found.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the player could get stuck in an infinite matchmaking queue. This was also another cause of unbalanced teams sometimes happening in Dominion.

Hey y'all,

We've just made a hotfix that changes various aspects of Leagues. We’ve heard player feedback that it felt too hard to advance into new Tiers and Leagues and at the same time, it didn’t feel like it was working well as a competitive ranking system. To that end, we’ve made the following changes:

  • We have drastically reduced the number of Crowns needed to advance to new tiers, for all Leagues. For example, it previously took 42,000 Crowns to advance from Gold Tier 5 into Gold Tier 4. Now it only takes 6000(!) Crowns.
  • We have increased the Crown “entry fee” for most Leagues. For example, the previous entry for Gold was 250 Crowns. Now the entry fee for Gold is 1250 Crowns. This means that you need to earn 1250 Crowns to prevent losing rank.
  • We have added entry fees for Silver League. The entry fee starts at 500 Crowns, then becomes 1000 Crowns once you hit Silver Tier 5.

* Decrease Vowguard aggro/disengage radius, and change behavior if they are attacked from far away
* Reduced whirlwind AOE damage radius by 40%
* Fixed ignited whirlwind damage stacking with flame/flame wall damage
* Fixed ignition getting applied while inside an ignited whirlwind (ignition should only be applied after you leave flames)
* Reduce maximum damage of Wind Shear by 1 for all rarities.
* Lobby will now immediately start match if all players have connected/finished loading.

This is not the totality of balance updates for Chapter 2 - expect more in the next official patch. We also released a hotfix patch for PC/PS4 today to resolve some crash issues and reduce hitching in Battle Royale. (XBox and Switch coming soon - waiting on approval from MS/Nintendo.)

Yes and matchmaking adjusts accordingly.

Max is something like 6k but that's fairly unlikely. Average is around 1500 or so. A good game is ~2500 while a bad game is around 650 or thereabouts, but it's hard to say in the very abstract.

For this release, our goal with talents was two-fold:

  • We want to increase the number of viable builds.
  • We want to shake things up.

To that end, we’ve made the following changes:

  • Talents now cost between 1 and 4 points (up from 3).
  • Players now have 7 total points to spend (up from 6).
  • There are now 7 talents per category (up from 6).

Not sure where this info came from, but this is unfortunately not the case. There will be some content downtime between the last week of Ch1's content and the start of Ch2's.
