Awesome news! Is there a link to download and install the DS already? And maybe some instructions

You can download it via your library in steam, make sure that it also shows "tools", downloading that should also include a PDF

Really wish we had a meme flair. I racked up 7 hours of playtime right after purchase; it's a great game that's really improved since the alpha.

good idea!

okay that clears up everything (for now ;) )

Yeah, with renting server i didn't mean neccesarily from you...was more thinking about one of those companies that rent out servers on a monthly basis to people like me that want one for a few months without the obligation to stay online

I know some companies have said that they will have servers for valheim available so that is of course also an alternative :)

thanks for your reply, i appreciate the close communication

"Creating a server" though means i need to rent a dedicated server slot (which i probably will anyways)?

Or can i, with my regular PC, be the server anytime i am running the game with "my world save" and then anyone can join?

Side Question: Will others progress be stored on my world too or will they join with "new characters" everytime they rejoin my world?

You don't have to rent a server slot, you will be able to host your own dedicated servers. Your friends can join this server even if you are offline.

You can also have a "normal" server that is only active when you are using it, and if your friends are to play on this server you have to play with them.

Their progress will be saved on your servers, and they don't have to create new characters :)

Will Friends be able to join on the fly? Or can one friend Join monday, another wednesday and saturday both Join to Play as three?

You will be able to play multiplayer on release. You can play up 10 people on one server, but recommended is 1-5. When you create a server, you can play by yourself or have your friends join you :) hope this answers your question!

Your gear and your items will lie in a "chest" where you died.

If you died in a place you need armor to get to, guess what now you have to make another set just to go and pick up your old set.

This is one of the games biggest flaws IMO. You can get into a loop of death runs. It's not fun and will often result in a frustrated party and everyone calling it a day.

I love so much about this game and have spent a significant amount of hours in it, but this whole "you'll die a lot"-thing with this trailer is weird to see, considering the way they handle deaths in the game is one of the (very few) weak points of this game.

You are not wrong, we have explored multiple different paths to ease this issue. But in the end it always removes the very important tension and fright of dyeing that makes the game what it is. Be prepared to die, have a backup plan, don't rush into things you are not sure you can handle etc is something new players will have to learn. Our more experienced beta players hardly ever die, and if they do they most likely have a plan for it. =)
