You’re right, the VALORANT map rotation could use a refresh. That’s why Act III opens cold, with a new map set in the arctic wilderness: Icebox.

Moving Icebox up from Episode 2 does come with a trade-off: we’ll be delaying the release of our newest Agent for two weeks (one patch cycle) after the start of Act III. Simply put, our last few patches haven’t been the most stable, and we know more of you want Icebox. Delaying the release of a new Agent allows us to better handle any issues that might emerge when launching alongside Patch 1.10.

Not gonna lie, the Act III patch is a bit scary considering the high amount of content coming and potential instability. We want to be faster when it comes to resolving any issues or exploits. This delay gives our team some breathing room to make sure current Agents play nice with the new map (invisible Spy Cams, invincibility, teleporting in the wrong neighborhood, etc.) before introducing anot...

Interesting, we'll take a look. Those are on two different network paths, so not super surprising that they might differ, but that's a pretty big spread.

Hi armies question- with the new server selection option will we be able to select servers outside of our shard?

Currently, the game servers are shard specific. We are working on making shard transfers better, but what game server are blend are you looking to use?

Will this affect future map releases? Will there even be a new map in Episode 2 since the Episode 2 map got moved up to Episode 1?

To be completely honest stuff like this is still getting figured out and I’m not qualified to speak to it since I’m not in deep on production schedule work. In general though, we’re working to get you all maps sooner rather than later, and we want to avoid that “empty episode” scenario as much as we can. I wish I could give more details here but I’m just not the right person to speak to it!

A map release doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be an agent release in that act, too. We were initially planning on launching icebox with another agent at the Episode 2 drop, sooo...

ah yes the next phase of the avalanche gun skin reveal campaign - the devs loved the guns' origin story so much they built a map

Can I also just say that game dev (in a pandemic) takes time but as Joe and Anna have said, we build this game with you, and sometimes that means changing plans made pre-launch to meet evolving needs. We're always listening, so please be patient. Or as all the corporations say, we're in this together in unprecedented historical times so now is the time to buy a burger and side of curly fries avalanche gun skiiiiiiin babyyyyyy.

So Riot has nerfed the OP, featured a cheaper skin set, nerfed Killjoy and Raze, introduced more agent composition variety by nerfing Sage out of being a must pick, and released a new map 3 months ahead of schedule?

Yeah stop your bitching about how they aren't listening.

This map was originally going to come out in Episode 2 as planned, but many of us on the project felt it was worth buckling down hard and getting it finished to release it early. My role in that process as a researcher was understanding how players felt about it, and when it was clear to us how badly y’all wanted a fifth map, it was easy for us to get this schedule upheaval prioritized.

Riot’s not perfect - we’ll continue to make mistakes, but at the very least I hope you all can trust that we genuinely do care and we do listen.

It helps if you include your location and which ISP you're using in these types of posts (makes it actionable in case there is something we can do to influence it). Can you post a traceroute to 192.207.0.1 ?

The Georgia servers were working fine the whole time. Your ISP finally finished connecting directly to them instead of going via Texas to get there.
