With hundreds of new additions with thousands of new combinations, Shadowlands’ new character customization options will help you better create the characters you envision in your mind.
From grizzled champions who wear their scars like badges of honor to wistful druids who are at one their forests, here are some short character backstories to help spark your imagination—along with the accompanying customizations that help bring out their personalities.
Rumors swirl of a pale wight that lurks in the shadows, a monstrous blend of man and beast with unnatural glowing eyes who’ll slip a poison-dipped dagger into its victim’s rib cage with surgical precision—before dissipating silently into the darkness.
In Shadowlands, players will be able to quest through four new zones ruled by ancient and powerful Covenants. Upon reaching the max level of 60, players will be able to join one of these Covenants as they continue to explore the Warcraft universe’s afterlife and the many mysteries and adventures that it holds.

Carve your human’s face with battle scars, adorn your blood elves in delicate armlets and wristbands skillfully forged by Silvermoon’s metalsmiths, and give your worgen glowing eyes or vertical-slit pupils to reflect the beast within.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the character creation screen has been completely remade, with race portraits on either side of the screen and class icons displayed along the bottom. The WoW Classic Fall Conquest will take place over three weeks from October 3-18 within the 15v15 Arathi Basin. With $12,000 (USD) in total prizing, teams in North America and Europe will battle for their share of each region’s $6,000 (USD) prize pool!
The tournament will be split into two regions: North America and Europe. All games will take place on live servers for WoW Classic, using the War Game feature. Here’s how it all works:
One of the biggest technical upgrades we made to the WoW Companion App for Shadowlands is the ability to support multiple expansions. We know it’s a feature many players have been asking for, and today we wanted to share some of the challenges and decisions involved in making this kind of large-scale tech change.
The Companion App was originally designed to support one expansion: Legion. Leading up to Battle for Azeroth, we made the decision to prioritize several major back-end improvements, including the ability for the app to share code with the PC client, which allows us to take advantage of many of the features and tools that are available to the main game’s UI (user interface) that the app previously did not have access to. In just a few weeks after the release of Shadowlands, Season 1 will begin and the gates of Castle Nathria will open as the expansion’s first raid experience.
Infiltrate the iron-barred walls of Castle Nathria, a 10-boss raid located in the shadowy realm of Revendreth. Face off against unfathomable horrors in a race to uncover a sinister plot and save these lands from a dark and twisted future.
