There is a shader compile that happens at start up when you see the W logo (slower machines will actually see a shader compilation bar fill) you can validate your files or nuke the settings to try and force it to do it again.

This means it can't write to your user account AppData\Local\Wayfinder

Would make sure you have read and write to that folder and try again.

You unlock all the characters by just following the main story. You get the 2 other starters within the first 1/2 hour of play. The rest follow very shortly after. There are hints, go to Omen and it will tell you how to summon them.

Haven't seen this bug before, would recommend restoring default settings and perhaps revalidating.

Can you elaborate on this? There is no server, you're directly connecting to another person. if you are dropping either them or you are having connection issues.

This is usually an issue with writing to your AppData folder. Check your permissions, restart the game and try again!
