The slow North Carolina AP shells are a known thing, but there are folks that learn them and excel. My frustration was more that the 6 barrels lead to some really awkward salvos whereas the North Carolina has 9 guns to make it more likely the holes are more filled in. Kearsarge has NC guns, but she has 12 of them AND the dispersion upgrade in Slot 6.

When Nebraska's guns connected, they were Battleship shells. They just didn't connect as often as I would have preferred.

The line is a Light Cruiser line. Light Cruisers bring damage, but they also bring utility which can be expressed by having a diverse set of consumable options.

My Ranked experience with the Nebraska left a lot to be desired with her shell accuracy. I used the guns, but they didn't reward me with much at all.

The bombers were consistent, though the cooldown was long enough not to result in much DPM.

I look forward to the higher tiers that have access to more barrels and the Slot 6 Dispersion Mod. I expect that will make the guns much, much more comfortable.

You are correct that balancing is quite hard with so many variables in play. We have a multi-month process of live testing to find out how the ships perform. We make tweaks to aim for metrics to be hit, and we do factor for play capability by breaking the data out across accounts by win-rate.

If you want to learn about our balancing process, we did make a video:

Ideally, a Tier 9 Cruiser should be equatable to another Tier 9 Cruiser. There will always be some amount of variance due to the game being asymmetrical, but ships are balanced against the others that they come into contact with. Consumables can be play-defining in their use, but the overall package of the ship determines its capability and gameplay.

I mention "Slot" because there is not always direct matching of ship types so it's more about having a "slot" or "spot" on the team. Brawls expressly do not type-match, so it's more about each player on the team having an expectation of capability.

Commanders!

Pan American Cruiser San Martin has been restless to set sail before your very eyes, so we're going to helm her for you in an exclusive first-look! She is still in our testing process, but we've gotten the go-ahead to perform some sea trials on stream <3

Also, UK Submarines are surfacing in the Armory as we enter the third week of Update 12.1! Has Gaishu made a secret pact with Poseidon to become an underwater British Sea-Monster?

We hope to see you at https://www.twitch.tv/worldofwarships at 5pm CST on Wednesday!

Every ship is balanced to its "slot" on the roster. A ship with Radar will have other areas where it is lacking so that the overall whole totals to an expected amount of power.

In a hypothetical situation, you could have four ships that aren't in a division enter the Matchmaker at the same time. They are:

Baltimore (US Cruiser - Radar)

Anchorage (US Cruiser - Smoke)

Edinburgh (UK Cruiser - Radar)

Edinburgh (UK Cruiser - Smoke)

-

In Randoms, the Matchmaker would seperate each team to have 1 US Cruiser and 1 UK Cruiser each, because Randoms will try to balance Nation/Type.

You could get this lineup:

Team 1

Baltimore (US Cruiser - Radar)

Edinburgh (UK Cruiser - Radar)

Team 2

Anchorage (US Cruiser - Smoke)

Edinburgh (UK Cruiser - Smoke)

The Random Matchmaker does not account for consumables, so Team 1 could have two Radar Cruisers while Team 2 does not. Or it could...

If the DD is AFK, then the CV should have a fairly easy time dealing at least some damage to it with planes.

Brawls in specific don't worry about type-matching. The matchmaking metric for Brawls is "# of Wins" for the current Brawls "sprint".

Brawls don't tend to linger so while you might have a tough matchup on round the next one will always be different.

As many as we can get, yes. Replays demonstrating issues can help us for determining the problem. This is for any Operations or Co-Op match that exhibits problems.

I enjoyed Elite Dangerous quite a bit. I mostly played it solo so it eventually ran its course, but if I decided to do the Engineer/Upgrade stuff that would add a fair amount of playtime for me to grind through as well as min-max some fighting ships.

Can absolutely recommend for some solo vibe play.
