I got this quest and proceeded to the River Rhine. However, right off the bat I noticed that whenever I enter the river, the quest disappears from my log entirely. The entire River Raids category vanishes and the quest does not appear in the upper left corner of the screen when I'm exploring. This occurs regardless of whether or not the quest is tracked before entering the river, and I obviously can't select the quest after I've entered because, like I said, it disappears from my log.

After entering the river, I went to the location of the champion and found the note saying that they'll only appear when I kill the two captains. I left the river and then returned. According to a guide, the captains should spawn in two of the four military locations along the river and I have to confirm their deaths. They do not. I've fully cleared the river three times and not a single enemy in any of the four military raid locations can be confirmed.

I have a feeling that I've encountered a bug and the fact that the quest disappears from my log whenever I enter the river means it can't update.

How do I fix this? Am I just screwed?

And before you ask: I am not reinstalling the game; yes, all of my drivers are updated; no, I am not using any trainers or mods

Hi @IndigoAK I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the quest 'The Ulfberht Sword'.

Could you try verifying your game files and ensure that you have the latest update (1.6.2) installed then try again.

However, if the issue persists can you please provide a video that demonstrates this. In the video we would need to see the quest in your quest log before you start the River Raid and to show that it disappears after you have entered the River Raid map.

I would recommend uploading your video to a video sharing platform such as YouTube, you can then copy the URL link into this thread. 

Can you also ensure that your latest save is uploaded to the cloud. If you are unsure how to do this there is a support article that you can check here

@IndigoAK thanks for the video provided, I will forward this on to the development team along with your save file for further investigation.

Access to the save file that is uploaded to the cloud is so that support can forward them on to the development team when an issue has been reported. This process is much faster than requesting save files manually. Also it is not possible for us to acquire manual saves from Xbox consoles or PS5.

Please be rest assured that support cannot open or modify these saves.

I was able to collect your save from the Cloud to add to their reports. If you have any video clips to share at a later time, we can also add them to their report. I am also sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the River Raid quest 'The Ulfberht Sword'.

I have merged your post with this thread. Looking at your screenshot your issue looks slightly different as I can still see the quest name in the top right corner. Can you confirm if the quest also still appears in your quest log and if it does is there no objective showing there either?

To confirm does the quest name still appear and the quest objective is missing or does the quest disappear from your quest log altogether?

I have an update for this topic, which is as follows:

After thorough investigation, the development team is unable to provide a solution for the reported issue. When assessing the complexity of the issue and number of players affected, the team had to prioritize issues that had a comparatively higher impact.
 
With Post-Launch support for Assassin's Creed Valhalla coming to an end, we will be unable to roll out a fix for this issue.

I apologize for any convenience caused and understand this may not be the desired outcome you had hoped for.
