This case is concerning the man's best friend ability and a bug surrounding the acquisition of that ability.
Upon completing the necessary quest to unlock this ability I did not unlock the ability, I was unaware of its acquisition or existence untill I watched my flatmate play the same quest and gain the ability for himself (I also bought his copy as a gift) I'm too far in now to back track and regain the ability so it is unfortunately lost to me untill you patch this issue.
