I'm sure someone has posted about this somewhere although I don't see exactly the same issue. I logged onto my PC after a few weeks and updated Valhalla to the new 1.4.0 patch. I also made sure my graphics card was updated too because it had been a few weeks. I made sure my virus definitions were updated also. I log onto Valhalla fine, get to the main menu and when I click "continue" on my saved file it gets to the black screed with the Celtic saving symbol in the bottom right corner but that is just frozen, it doesn't move or anything, every time. I've left it up to 10 minutes and it doesn't move at all. Sometimes I'm able to close the frozen game via task manager sometimes it freezes my whole computer.

Having trawled alot of forums with similar but not exact issues i have followed your guidance on fixes and have done that. I have made sure the GFX card is up to date, the Windows update is up to date, the game runs on the main C (SSD) drive, I have even gone into the load files and purposely picked an earlier save file to see if it was just corrupted recent files (cloud ones and non cloud one) I have even gone to the extreme lengths of reinstalling the whole 127gig game as a last resort. I have verified the game files. I'm at a loss, all i want to do is play this game when I get little chance in the evenings and I cant even do that.

my computer is new as of september and these are the specs:

AMD Ryzen 3800XT 8 core processor
X570 mag tomahawk wifi
Radeon RX 6700 Mech 2X 12G

Please help!!!

Hello @krak3nl1mz and thank you for contacting Ubisoft Support. I am sorry to hear your game freezes after you installed the title update 1.4.

Looks like you already performed all basic troubleshooting steps, but just to confirm have you tried to perform the Clean boot and see if it solves the issue?

If you still have issues after this, let us know here and we can create a support case for you, as we'll need to get some system files (DX Diag and MSINFO) from you to look into this further. You can find how to create these files here.

If you would prefer to contact us via live chat, you can do so here and we can get your files from you whilst speaking to you on there.

As live chat isn't always available, you can also reach out through a private message on Twitter or Facebook if you prefer, as that will also create a case for you and we can then get your system files off you through there.

As live chat isn't always available, you can If you do contact us through one of the above options, please let us know, otherwise we will create the support ticket for you if you still need assistance.

Hi @krak3nl1mz apologies for the late response.

I'm pleased to hear that performing a clean boot resolved the issue. A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and start up programs, therefore it's possible that one of your applications was causing the issue.

Does the game work fine now if you launch your PC normally?
