Hrorek starts the mystery like he should, I follow him to the Jarl, kill the three attackers, but am unable to speak with Hrorek after. He just stands there cowering like he does during the fight. This is the last thing I need to complete to have 100% completion and the 'Completionist All the Way!' trophy.

I have tried -

  • Switching Eivor's gender
  • Exiting the Animus and returning
  • Reverting save to before ever talking with Hrorek


Occurs on PS4 and PS5, both fully up-to-date as of today, 2/24/2021.

Any advice is appreciated, I only have this one mystery left.

Thanks for taking the time to report this. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble completing "A Desperate Bounty." Thanks for letting us know what steps you have already tried!

If possible, would you be able to send us a video that shows you're unable to interact with Hrorek? We can then pass this along to the development team for a closer look.

@scaldak Thank you for the video! I can confirm that the issue with Hrorek not responding has been identified and will be addressed in a future update.

In terms of him being dead, this is still being looked into. Any news will be communicated via the megathread.

Hello there!

I'd like to reach out to you all with an update. I'm happy to announce that the issue wherein Hrorek couldn't be interacted with is due to be fixed in TU 1.2.1. This update will deployed 27 April, 2021 at 1 PM CEST / 8 AM ET.

If you are still encountering issues when interacting with Hrorek following TU 1.2.1, please don't hesitate to update this thread so we can take a closer look. Please include a video that shows the following:
- You have TU 1.2.1. installed. You can view this information in the opening game menu in the bottom right-hand corner.
- The issue still occuring in-game.

This issue was marked as resolved following TU 1.2.1. I'm sorry to hear you're still having trouble interacting with Hrorek in "A Desperate Bounty" following this update. Would you be able to send us a video that shows us the following:

  • You have the latest Title Updates installed on your platform. You can check this in the right-hand corner of the main game menu
  • You're unable to interact with Hrorek to complete "A Desperate Bounty"


We can then pass your report along to the development team to re-open the investigation into this issue.

Please note that any compensation would be the decision of the Assassin's Creed: Valhalla team. The player support team has no influence over this decision. If compensation is to be offered to players, this information will be shared on our official platforms or via in-game notifications.

@jenkins3142 I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue.

The issue is showing as being resolved in update 1.2.1, however as you are still experiencing this I will inform the development team so that they can reopen the issue and investigate further.

I noticed that the mystery icon remains in the same location that you started the quest which is unusual. What happens if you travel back to that location?

Can you also confirm if you have tried the following workarounds as this has been known to work in other quests that have had similar issues:

  • Switching Eivor's gender
  • Exiting the Animus then returning
