Upon a start of Anno 1800 the game ends abruptly before even reaching the main menu or the Anno 1800 splash screen. I had tried to solve it for months and in act of clear desperation I even fully reinstalled my OS a month ago and upgraded it fresh to Windows 11. Ale the DirectX issues were gone for 1 month on the new fresh OS installation.... until now. Today yet again Anno 1800 has refused to start. To be honest, this is a bit frustrating after investing so much time & money into Anno 1800 over time.

I'll upload whatever useful diagnostics I can as per DevBlog: From Bug Report to Game Update - Anno Union (anno-union.com): (https://anno-union.com/devblog-from-bug-report-to-game-update/) and How to report a bug in Anno 1800 | Ubisoft Discussion Forums .

Hey @tarekhaig,

Sorry to hear that you are encountering this issue despite your troubleshooting.

If you haven't already then I would recommend to perform a clean boot to ensure background applications are not interfering.

Any trouble, just let us know.

Hey there @tyten2020,

Thanks for reaching out, sorry to hear you're still having issues.

If you've already attempted all of the suggestions here to no effect, then could you please open a case via our Support Site and attach your DxDiag and MSinfo system files?

There we'll be able to take a closer look.

Please let us know if you have any issues with this!

Heya @jjshleprock , welcome to the forum! Completely agreed - crashes and trouble launching can be caused for a bunch of different reasons, so it's good to make sure to follow all the steps in our troubleshooting guide, which covers all the most common reasons. In particular from the guide, please make sure you are running the game with administrator rights, you've verified the game files, you've got your graphics drivers and Windows install fully updated, and you've (at least temporarily, for testing) deactivated all background programs.

In @HexForger 's case, it was a background program. It's definitely a worthwhile step deactivating all background programs, so as to rule that out as the cause. If it does turn out to be the cause, they can be reactivated one by one until the culprit is found. It's something our teams can help with more directly with the use of the system files in our system files support article, by reaching out at the links below.
