I am not involved with Settlers, so I can't speak to what happened there, but Settlers IV was published by Ubisoft itself back in the day, so maybe that made things legally and licensing-wise easier for their History Edition.

These projects can be quite legally tricky unfortunately, as things were quite different back then than they are today.

What about "By Royal Command" and "In the Name of the King" expansions? Are they going to be included as well?

Only "New Islands, New Adventures" is included, as it is the official expansion created by the Anno 1602 developers. Back then you could often find semi-official (or entirely illegal) mission discs for popular strategy games in shops that had nothing to do with the original developers.

In the case of "In the Name of the King", I think many of those missions were created by community members, and published via a German PC gaming mag. I am myself not familiar with "By Royal Command".

But, in short, the History Editions will include official content created by the original developers that we own the rights to.

Hope that clears it up :)

I get the feelung that they are really putting some thought into this.

Unfortunately, that tempts me into buying Games I allready own.

It would be nice if we could use an online profile from the "old" 1404 in the new one, to be able to hold on to our old achievements...

Hey, so here’s how it works. You should still be able to use your old original 1404 profiles. The History Edition should just recognize your previous profile, and carry it over!

Just chiming in to say that while we have no concrete plans for now, we are keeping an eye on this thread :)

Fair enough. I guess "Almost complete edition with all currently released major content" wasn't a snazzy title :D

I found it hard to imagine there will be no further expansions of the base game.

There's no official public announcement, but devs comments in the ubi forum and during dev streams say that there's nothing planned right now.

Previous Anno games only got ~1 year of post-release updates for comparison.

Indeed. We currently don't have any plans for additional content beyond the things for this year, which is already significantly more post-launch content than any Anno has ever received before :)

And of course we also want to work on new games in the future as well!

It's cool that after all this time (almost 15 years), there is a new Anno board game...and it is again from Kosmos. Speak of coming full circle :)

Nice, Martin Wallace is a good designer, Brass is one of my top boardgames of all time.

We were definitely very excited to hear that he would be designing Anno 1800!

Never played any of his games, but it seems like he designed quite a lot of heavy(ish) strategy games.
Brass and Age of Steam ring a bell though and seem well liked on BGG.

Pretty cool!

He certainly has bona fide Industrial revolution credibility :)

As we are not working on the board game ourselves, I do not have any insights into this, sorry.

I would assume that any place that carries Kosmos titles will also have Anno 1800.

This looks cool, will it be in German only?

There will also be an English edition, with potential other localizations up to Kosmos' partners in the various regions and countries.
