Enemy players will no longer be able to climb ladders on anchored ships on PvE servers. This should hopefully prevent boats from being sunk. Going to lock down this thread now, but if there are more ways that people find let us know and we'll investigate.

Patched in v16.33

I am also concerned with the change of not allowing sleeping characters to contest claims. I would hope that you could clarify the timers first at the very least. As it is, there are positive and negative timers and as far as I can tell, no one actually knows exactly how long you have before they can be contested on pve. Small groups can't realistically log on every few hours to make sure no one steals all the time they put into the game. As this is a core game mechanic I feel the time they have (including if there are time changes per flag) should be clearly visible to the company land owners. I'm also reading conflicting reports on how to reset the timers. Do you need to run to each flag or just log onto the zone? I have been logging on in the morning and at night before sleep and just running to the flags just to be sure. It's not fun... but would be worse losing our progress to an unclear mechanic. Then there is the overlapping claim flag issue as well, at least sleeping bodi...

I'm seeing if we can push up the negative timer fix for this very same build so people are able to tell clearly whether a claim is inactive or not. You need to physically be in the zone where the flag is, logging onto the server wouldn't be enough.

Tbh man, I don't care what the harvest rate is set to, but having it go up on some weekends, especially when it's pretty regularly, just de-motivates me to play any other time.

It's something we do want to cut down on in the future and focus on more specialised events, but whilst we're in this highly iterative stage of development and we're shipping server binaries like no tomorrow, it's really helpful to us from a data gathering point of view. When the servers run as crap as possible, whilst it sucks for everyone, we can learn a lot and make improvements so overtime the experience will be much better.

Not entirely, it may vary per region/biome

That's really what's been missing from ARK/ATLAS -- the ability to play with a few friends, without getting constantly wiped. I don't want to play in some huge mega-tribe. I want to login and play with 3-5 friends. And getting wiped every single day isn't fun gameplay.

It's been a long time coming, that's for sure. We can still make the game viable for those particular players without detracting from the experience for large groups of players. I'm super stoked to see where things go!

We're going to be introducing a natural decay on PvE servers for abandoned boats, as well as on Golden Age Ruin Servers on PvP Realms. If these boats haven't had activity after a certain amount of time (probably a couple weeks) they'll be destroyed. We don't expect it'll be needed as much on Golden Age Ruin servers on PvP, however, we know there's an abundance of Ramshackle Sloops and possibly rafts which players wouldn't want to use materials to sink so we expect it to make a difference :).

Definitely not something that's intended, we'll investigate.

Claims should only be unclaimable when a player hasn't been active in that claimed area for 3 days, if you've been actively playing in the zone then you'll be safe from having it unclaimed. Only once the 'inactive' timer has gone over 72 days, will a claim on a PvE server be unclaimable by another group. Previously, even if this were the case, sleeping bodies were having an impact on ...

Seeing the same thing as OP

Could it be that you were used to 4x rates? ATLAS launched at 1x, shortly therefater we hardcoded to 2x (which is currently live and working as far as we can tell -- picking up stones on your grid is a good indicator), and the last 2 weekends we've been at 4x (though it's advertised at 2x.. cause the base was increased). 4x is now disabled tho

We just ran it once, but now we're just going to keep it running continuously, on all servers.

It should be both, but that's assuming no technical hiccups. Best way to know is when the patch is live

We'll be looking at doing further work for claim flags and aye it's certainly a point of discussion for our team. Not saying that limiting is what we'll end up doing, but we're exploring options.
