I like that you liked League Play but to say it wasn't broken is inaccurate. I chose to accept the word broken in this context as having things in it that didn't work so well.

It had plenty of design defects and it was this community that gave us feedback on those design decisions that we banked both THEN and then again more recently.

We hope to address this topic head-on in more detail in a video developer update soon.

League Play is taking/took longer than we expected, because we are addressing the community feedback on it in advance of launching it. ...thus when it does come out it will more closely match your expectations of what it is and how you think it should work.

We are doing the very things you gave us feedback on that we agreed made sense for the game we now have versus the game we had when I stood on stage and told you League Play was coming back at the MP reveal event.

It's simply a software development realit...

Cool. We enjoy making it.

We actively encourage and reward constructive criticism ... but it may not be obvious enough when and how we do that.

So, in the spirit of transparency...

We have a guy on the community/social management team and a part of his daily routine is to find constructive and thoughtful criticism posts/commentary. That doesn't mean he doesn't also see or let us know about less than constructive posts/commentary.

He sends this report to key stakeholders and studio managers, myself included. That's how I know about this post. You won't find many developers in a decision making role browsing around Reddit parsing chaff from wheat. It's hard enough on the day to day satisfy the community's appetite to evolving/fixing/improving/add new content to the game while managing a team.

[Some of the] community doesn't do itself any favors by injecting what might be great or valid feedback with venom. I'm not going to read it and...

While I personally don't think the EMP should remove player names. I do think the EMP could be an interesting addition to Blackout. It's on the schedule, but a bit downstream and lower priority than some other things (at the time of this writing and, like anything, subject to change.)

So you all understand how this works, how I personally feel about anything doesn't determine or guarantee how something will work. It's always a team effort.

Trophies are great but needing them to be preemptive is unreliable. Surprising a team with a concussion initiation shouldn't always result in a guaranteed win.

Reinforced is also an insufficient counter because it is inherently less lootable given that activated perks aren't dropped on death. A player shouldn't be expected to have reinforced activated for every single fight in a Blackout match, yet concussions continue to feel omnipresent despite the inventory nerfs. I'm also still confused as to why ya'll decided that Reinforced/Tac-Mask needed to be a half-measure this year instead of the full immunity from year's prior.

This game is seriously so good, but the hand-in-front-of-face-can't-fight-back decision is utterly mind boggling.

...

Like before, I am answering the question without judgement for or against.

I do so without any lense of multiplayer or Blackout when answering. It's a design philosophy conversation, which I always enjoy personally when both sides are treating each other with respect.

Hard-counters invalid both pieces of gameplay content. If you can fully counter something, you stop taking the thing that can be fully countered and then you stop taking the counter.

That gameplay type and style then ends up getting invalided entirely over time and removes depth from the game. I (personally) don't like that because I (personally) believe the game is much richer with more than just straight gunplay.

... as to your note(s) above about "not being able to fight back" please understand that I totally get it. We just haven't decided what we are going to do about that yet.

Hey--here are a few of the tweaks and updates that are live right now, courtesy of the ongoing work Beenox is doing to listen to feedback and ensure the best possible PC experience.

General Changes (PC)

Multiplayer

Weapons

  • Saug 9mm
    • Operator Mod : Further increased the hip fire spread. Lowered the maximum damage falloff distance. The dual Saug was extremely popular and efficient on PC and it needed additional attention from what had been done for console.
  • MOG-12
    • Barrel Choke : Reduced one-hit kill range. While we already had a different balancing for this weapon on PC, we felt that this attachment was still performing a bit too well outside of its intended range.
  • Koshka
    • Moved one-shot kill zone from “head only” to “head and upper chest”. Using High Caliber it will grant a one-shot kill from the chest up....
