Historically you receive the code 24H in advance, but it is a moving target.
it won’t let me pre load on Xbox. i am still waiting on my xfinity early access code as well
Yes, Xbox players will need the code to preload. PC will not.
Then what about pre-loads? Will that start just a few hours before beta or a whole day before like PS4?
You can pre-load now. You will need to have the code we send you redeemed before you can play on Thursday.

Thank you for taking the time to try that out for me.
Restarted both game and Console, did nothing
Just to make sure that I understand this correctly:
If possible, please switch your input to the controller and restart your game with that setting selected. Reboot the game, switch back to KBM, and see if it is still locked.
Let me know if restarting the game helps.
