There is so much "hidden" mechanics in this game, i still learn some tricks after 1.2k hours.
Can't blame the devs, they give you the very basics in tutorial, and then you learn by playing with other people willing to teach news players

I remember Mark doing this on our stream, which led to a salty comment about the devs not playing their own game.
Ah my bad, i phrased it weirdly. I guess both in terms of mission length and the designing put into it. Currently i'd place escort as the longest mission to complete, so how do you think the new mission compares in length to that? And between doretta, the fuel canisters, the pumpjacks, the refinery and all the wonderful things designed and put into those missions, how much designing would you say is put into any new models or machinery in this new mission?
Hard to say, as I haven’t played it in a while, but I know part of the design process has been making it shorter, so it’s still a work in progress. Pace wise I’d say it’s definitely different from escort.
In terms of scale, which is bigger? The new mission or the missions from update 32, escort and refinery?

While I appreciate them taking the time to make a quality update, I wish devs would at least commit to a date when they delay something.
We have, it’s just not announced.
Obviously I want the update to be polished but they literally confirmed it coming at the end of Q3 just the other day in comment on this sub. What a massive bummer.
It was still the plan at that point.
My one issue is anytime people would ask for weeks now, they said q3. They reaffirmed it would be q3 probably 2 or 3 dozen times. I understand things come up, but when did they realize this? Surely they didnt just wake up today and realize it wouldnt be ready. They had to have known for a while now, so to continue the illusion it would be q3 is annoying. Maybe im just being a pointy eared leaf lover but the lack of legitimate communication from the devs has been extremely frustrating.
Release windows are always a risk. When we said Q3, it was because we planned for Q3. We’re a small team, which makes us very flexible (though also vulnerable) so things like this can literally change from one day to another. Internally, we’ve been aiming for Q3 up until yesterday. When I said Q3 during yesterdays stream, while knowing it was Q4, it was because we needed to put together the Steam post and get the details in order. Had I not, people would notice and we wouldn’t have the proper response ready. So yes, for a 24h Window I lied. I lied for you, /u/TripStuckin
I think as compensation we should get some hints about the new mission type.

I'm reading way to much into it I'm sure but if you have things that third parties need to approve, that usually means copyrighted stuff. I wonder if Deep Rock goes the way of Sea of Thieves and pulls a partnership with an IP out of no where
That’s definitely seeing a kraken in a cave with only cave leeches. It’s more Valve, Coffee Stain and other actors.
I sort of assumed this from watching the recent sludge pump stream and hearing how much they still wanted to work on.
Good on them for taking their time to release a polished content update.

It’s actually not the weapons holding us back.
I think we all knew this was coming given the lack of release date announcements. I’m still really excited to see what the new game mode is, especially now that GS is saying it’s expanded and been developed into something so much grander than their original vision.
I’m looking forward to playing with mods in just a few days, that is going to add so much more variety and replayability.
On a side note, have Devs said anything about weapon frameworks and paintjobs for the new weapons? I’m assuming they’ll be adapting the existing weapon frameworks onto the new weapon models?
The lack of announcements (us sticking to Q3) has mostly been due to the timing of some things that had to be confirmed by a third party. A lot of timing goes into releasing an update this size, so we want to be absolute sure. We probably could have made Q3, if nothing unexpected happen (like someone being sick), but since the gears has to move in sync with other stuff, it’s better this way.
