We'll look into these reports on the bubble gum not consistently working. The Perfect Bubblegum is only available on the Scoreboard and as an occasional free daily item in the Atomic Shop, though, so you shouldn't be able to outright purchase it. Unless your friend is talking about rank-ups on the Scoreboard?
Can ya please pass this on to the devs? The lack of late-game energy weapons, that arent heavy weapons, is really degrading for the game in the long run, I just wanna be able to use my Laser Rifles :(
