Tbh i feel fire and nature colors too close. i mean red and yellow aren't the best colors combo to differentiate 2 elements from.
Keep in mind we re-did weapon elemental FX earlier in the year, which also has a 4th variant "energy" (which is just bluglo effectively). Between those 4, we have 3 of which I'd naturally want to color blue (ice, energy, and electric). To help separate the hues and make these chromatically distinct, electric seemed like the only logical choice that could deviate away from blue and go more into amber/yellow.
Now using those 4 as a template, I hope it makes a little more sense why we went away from blue. However I did try to counter it some with the little blue arcs that spawn from the enemy's body. It's not much, but does help some.

The biggest challenge we had was how do we make a robust building system that was usable in high fidelity third person combat. So controls and complexity become a real challenge. If you wonder why we don't have crouch... this is why. :)

Yeah, we are always on the lookout for this sort of thing. When we expanded to four platforms (PC/Mac/PS4/Xbox One) we increased some of our risk on these things, but we will run them all down! You are right though they are prioritized by user impact.
Its been 6 years since I first heard of this and its so worth the wait. Some friends and I dove into this game this weekend and put in at least 15 hours. As an older gamer, been a while since I have done this!
My question is in regards to the survivors. Sometimes, we roll as a group and run into survivors that need help. We ALL do the work but only 1 of us is rewarded. Will this be changed?
Now that I think of it, same goes with chests. How about an in-game paper rock scissors!? That's how the wife and I determine who gets up to let the dog out :)
Not all survivor rescue mission work the same way. There are certain rescues that only reward the person who find them. However bigger ones (like survivor defenses) reward the whole group. Keep in mind though anything that grants score, effectively stacks to the group reward.
Any plans to flesh out the current permissions in the home shield missions? Being able to set even 2 or 3 settings would make online a lot less risky from people flattening your base. Something like: Build, Destroy and Harvest.
Feedback this using the tool I want to file this one as it could be cool.
PROBLEM: There have been so many cases where people can't join friends, primarily on Xbox. I too have experienced this. I can't play with my fiancé and its the sole reason we bought the game. We LOVE this game and want to play together!

First off, thanks for making a game like this, I'm tirrd of the whole Zombiegenre, but I love what this game has done to it.
My question is about the husks, while they are cartoonish, they're kinda morbid. In the beginning I thought they we wearing hoodies for some reason, but after the tutorial I realized the hoodie was the face/headskin of the human who was transformed. What made you go for the styles and looks of some of the husks?
P.s. Great choice on casting Ashley Burch as the voice of Ray!
The artists on the project are super creative and awesome is how! Those folks are amazing. However, we haven't (yet) commented on the origin or what the Husks actually are. The lore will be explored through our updates, so stay tuned.
Hey, I'm sure this has been asked before but are there any plans to allow UI customization because one of my current 'annoyances' is that it feels too BIG due to all the types of info being displayed so allowing it to be made smaller would already be a huge fix in my eyes.
The UI in our view is still very much "new" and giving more tools to the user to customize it is something we want. It's going to take us awhile to refine all our interfaces though.
I was wondering if you guys planned on altering the difficulty based off a teams power level. I am noticing how easy the game is because once you get one or two others of the same power level, everything becomes easy. The amount of AI should increase based off how many people there are and the power levels should increase as well. If not possible to do in the early stages, maybe we can get a storm shield defense repeat mission that does just that. Making the power levels increase every so many waves maybe? Something to make it harder for pre-made groups.
Also I love the game! The art style is fantastic and the overall gun play makes the game very enjoyable. Only wish it was a lot harder than what it is!
It's a tough balance between adding more players and always being a benefit to the party versus just adding more creatures. (Did you know that some amount of your FORT stats are transferred to your team when you play together?)
Harder group balanced content is on our list for sure though. Right now, have a look at the edges of the map some of the time based missions (they have a little timer over them) are way higher power level, so tough groups who are lower level can tackle them.

Would love to see an area where we could just farm materials instead of having to jump into a mission. Any plans on adding free roam?
You can always make your world private and just jump into a mission that you control the start time on. (Like say, fight the storm.) Right now, since we host everything on our servers nothing is unlimited though.
Do you plan on making/releasing new classes?
Yes, there will be more classes (and thus more heroes) over time. It just takes awhile to design all those heroes from the base class.
Hey devs. Congrats on the launch of the game!
My question is this: Will there be changes inbound for the Outlander class? Several people have raised concerns about getting fragments, the limit on charges. Being unable to place their abilities due to building restrictions and generally how the class feels very counter intuitive.
Well we will be balancing tons of the Heroes as we play through. So I wouldn't say anything is fixed just yet, just in a state of evolution.
I wondered a couple things myself: 1. Can we have it so that structures can be picked up and moved or materials changed after being built? 2. Can survivors not placed in squads be shown at our storm shield base? 3. More storage? 4. Possibility for some raids/boss fights? 5. Some way to totally deconstruct storm shield base and preserve materials for rebuilds? 6. Drone/overhead view of one's base? I am sure there will be some awesome designs to share with the community.

Will there ever be a completely open world survival mode? Basically allowing a team to drop into a world and build, defend and survive?
I was hoping for more of a open world base building, survival mode when I bought the game. Examples: Rust, minecraft, 7 days to die, or any of those style games.
Really liking the game so far though. Excited to see how things come along.
Those games are pretty sweet! We definitely have ideas on how to do stuff like that in a Fortnite. It's multi-part though, open world, iron-man survival modes etc. So we have to slice up the ideas and work through all of them. So I suspect you'll see pieces coming online over the next few years.
