Hey everyone, I believe this will be included in the upcoming patch (if not the following one). They’re technically still there, just drawing completely transparent :)

This will be a fix for both BR and StW.

Hey, thanks for the report! We are aware of it, and we're actively working on a fix. Sorry for the bug, but we should have it fixed shortly!

Selfish request. Can you PLEASE disable or fix the "Play a match with a friend" daily?

Multiple reports of it not able to be completed. I have tried with a friend on PSN that also friends our Epic accounts from paragon; this still didn't complete the quest.

Yet, every. single. day. I have to use my only reroll on challenges to clear one that is impossible to complete. I should instead be using this for challenges I have a hard time with. One of which is taking my other free slot. Leaving me one challenge a day for my battle pass and severely crippling my last tiers of BP progression.

Hey man, nothing selfish about wanting the quest to work!

We're actively looking at it right now. Like literally, I'm debugging it this moment. :)

Hopefully we'll have a fix shortly.

Honestly, it's a little bit of both. :)

Internally, we had discussed it, and it was definitely a feature we wanted to add. Around the same time, we started seeing suggestions to add it.

Seeing both the request and the concerns helped inform us on its priority and how to finish the feature. For example, it was clear from your discussions that we should absolutely not ship it without an option to disable it.

So, yeah, even if a feature is on the roadmap, it's still super useful to see discussion and ideas about them!

Can you message me your ingame name and platform?

We're past the hardest part now. We finally have the database back up and fully functional. Our QA heroes are testing things atm to make sure everything survived the transition from healthy DB to dead DB to healthy DB again. Then we have a few additional steps to get everything fully back online and letting people in.

Will update soon - I'm hopeful we'll be able to open the floodgates in the very near future. Thanks so much for everyone sticking with us during this. I know this patch has been literally unplayable........

EDIT - Now it is *literally playable and it did not take as long as anticipated to get login queue drained*. Thanks again for your patience and passion.

thank you!

Perfect, thank you. Will share updates here as they are available.

Quick question, I should have asked before. Are you experiencing variable/sporadic latency, rubberbanding, or anything along those lines? Or is the change in experience limited to the major change in latency?

Basically, trying to understand if your experience is "much higher latency, but stable/consistent" or if you also have degraded experience in terms of stability of your connectivity. Understanding personal anecdotes like this really helps contextualize the data on our end.

Can confirm - 3van did most of the actual hard work to make this possible.

What will now be NA East is exactly the same as "NA" previously. So if your ping to NA East is lower than your ping to NA West, your experience will not change.

Comment

gt2x - sorry we boned your experience. We did shift Asia servers from Tokyo to Seoul, with the intent that it's a near-neutral change for most players and a positive change for many players. That said, we definitely don't want to pull the rug out from players enjoying our game and this current shift isn't necessarily final or forever. As Asia player populations continue to grow, we are likely to need both datacenter locations, but we have to figure out how best to solve for cases like yours seamlessly rather than just randomly bouncing you between Tokyo and Seoul servers, which is quite a variable experience in your case.

Can you please do me a favor and let me know what your ping is to each server region via in-game settings? That would be helpful as we dig more into the data from our end to see what the full scope of positive, negative, and neutral impacts are here.

Bigger than we would like, but not huge. Estimated patch deltas: PC: 308 MB PS4: 390 MB Xbox: 1.7 GB

We are actively working on driving down patch sizes in general and especially digging into whatever is causing our Xbox patches to be so much larger atm. In the meantime, very sorry to our Xbox players for the larger-than-expected patch, but we do believe the stability gains are still worth the patch size here.

Well you see... the new server is now live, but I wasn't sure at the time if the operation had actually started yet. And the patch sizes should be small, but I wasn't sure how small yet. You could say I was being unclear-ish, and that would probably be fair. I'm sorry-ish.

Crash rates have increased a bit on this patch on all client platforms and server. Not catastrophic rates of crashing but we have definitely regressed more than we are comfortable letting sit without a quick fix.

The server we are deploying now-ish should significantly decrease server crashes. Client patches tomorrow morning should significantly decrease client crashes.

Server update should be totally invisible to players. Client update should be small-ish download tomorrow. Dudes are working on gathering actual patch sizes atm, but I expect a few hundred MB patch size.

Tangent = we are actively working to drive down patch sizes so these emergent updates are less disruptive.

Excited for the new map update this week? Get a dev perspective with some of the Fortnite team!

David Spalinski, Lead Level Designer:

Since the initial release of Battle Royale in September we’ve been keeping an eye on opportunities to improve and add to the map. We had some initial predictions about what would make it better for you, but chose to take the time to watch, listen, and play with the community to learn about various things we couldn’t have known at the onset. We’ve taken that knowledge and built it into this update, which represents a major iteration on the Battle Royale map.

One of the primary things we identified needed improvement was the density of the points of interests (POIs...

For real. I understand that there are limitations to the building system, and thus areas of uneven elevation will have issues with building. However, extended areas of flat ground should absolutely line up better with the building grid. When you place a wall, it needs to be at least chest high, not ankle high.

We agree :)

There are multiple places on the map where this happens, also locations where your walls/ramps get placed up in the air, allowing rockets to hit you from underneath. I think this should be a priority considering building is a major feature of the game, but I am confident you guys are already handling that.

Edit: When I say "placed in the air" they are being placed above ground, without being attached to another adjacent structure.

If you can point out other specific areas where this happens, that would be helpful! It'll take some time, but we'll add them to the list.
