Those are items that you consume to get a currency with the same name and icon. There is content in the game that requires you to consume candy corn for its current effect, such as https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/No_Respect_for_You
I'm pretty happy with what I got away with in this one :P
Just make it a wallet currency already!
unfortunately, you can't eat currency.
