I am not going to format my PC just for Stellaris. I have lots of other games, I am also using it as a work station for homeoffice and I have no issues whatsoever.
Not much can be done here, sorry guys

Hi folks.
I’m sorry about the crashing issues. This is a rare problem compared to the number of people playing the game, but that isn’t really a consolation.
Generally, if the game started crashing after a hotfix, repairing the game is likely to solve it.
If repairing the game doesn’t help, please provide all the information listed in this support article inside a .zip so we can investigate, even if others have. Log files can often help us determine the exact nature of the problem - there can be different causes that appear to have the same symptoms.
If you’d like, you can contact support rather than posting on the forum.
@smcmickle @Salenai the Standalone and Steam versions of the game are exactly the same, so I wouldn’t expect changing platforms to resolve this unless there is another problem (i.e. system running out of resources).
Again, these problems can be different for every person so I would recommend posting your diagnostic files first.
Thanks. A lot of your crash logs mention nvwgf2umx.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
. This dll is provided by nvidia as part of their graphics drivers, so I’d recommend performing a clean install of the latest drivers with DDU.
It also looks like your system is using almost all of its RAM (and a large paging file) at the time the crash happens. If this is still happening after a driver re-install I would recommend closing as many other programs as possible to reduce RAM usage, trying lower graphics settings (your GPU has 2GB of VRAM but will overflow to your normal RAM), and checking the size and location of your paging file.
Hi @archer199031 I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing freezes and crashes since the latest update.
As you have already gone through the PC troubleshooting in our support article we would need for you to send us a copy of your system files so that we can investigate further.
I have created a support case for you so that you can do this. You will receive an email explaining with more information.
As you will receive further assistance via your support case I will now lock this thread.
Greetings from Hell! And welcome to our forum.
Thank you for your report. We updated your forum rank, you should now be able to send files and links.
Please share the crash file as well, and we will forward your case to our team for investigation.
We await your reply.
Greetings from Hell!
Thank you for your report. We shared the information and files with our team for more investigation.
We appreciate your patience while we review your case.
Fairly recently, people were having boot up issues on systems with lower RAM quantity. We made some changes which made it easier for them to get in and we got good feedback on those chanyces that it was helping. I'm not sure if this is related at all or not but you could try rebooting your system and only attempting to start up the game and nothing else. (Also just worth while to clean up your startup programs if you don't keep a close eye on it already). Bit of a shot in the dark.
Wow, thanks for such a quick reply! Loving the game btw 😊. I have 16gb RAM - do you think that could be it? I have tried rebooting and only starting the game and it still crashes. I’ve also tried a few other tricks like deleting temp files, running as admin, starting from the folder via steam. Nothing really working unfortunately. Maybe I should get more RAM? Thanks again
16 should be well more than enough. I think you're more likely having a different issue. I don't really have anything else tricky to try. The usual stuff applies, verify game files in steam, check drivers, check for updates. There are a couple low popularity anti virus programs that conflict with unity in general. I think Avira might have been one of them but it's not like a hard conflict, just weird issues.
Sorry, that's all I've got.
