The art team took this battlefield on as an opportunity to celebrate 30 years of Magic. It's been so satisfying watching how much it resonated with all (most) of you. And to think, it was only supposed to be a card sleeve.

By the end people were pioneering new tech, like the WIP VHS static shown here.

Artists jumped in to help, adding the pizza, or these SOL rings to help get this battlefield over the finish line.

But the April Fools battlefield was much more All Hands on Deck. Like the great sketch collaboration to create much of the graffiti on the desk.

Normally we do a greyscale sketch, into a simple model, then more robust art, and final textures.

The April Fools battlefield was driven by Kevin Moy. He rallied the art team to push for something special and nostalgic this year. How? With this greybox, obviously. (Yes, even with all those colors, it's still a greybox).
