[2020] [League idea] Grid-League – a different type of area-locked ironman where you must choose a starting zone with only 1 or 2 available starting chunks, and where you constantly unlock new adjacent chunks and expand your playable area by obtaining league points. More info in comments

Though there are some technical limitations as you'd noted, this is very similar to a league idea we discussed a few days ago for potentially doing some time in the future :). Really glad to see community ideas like this for leagues so keep them coming. Would love to have a player-designed league at some point.
