Path of Exile: Synthesis has been out for three weeks now and while the community has done a lot of the exploration of the league and its mechanics, we wanted to share an FAQ for those who may still be wondering how things work.What is Synthesis?
Synthesis is the current Path of Exile league. In it, an NPC named Cavas needs your help to recover his memories. You'll first meet him in The Coast, where he will open a portal to a Fragmented Memory.
What are Fragmented Memories?
Fragmented Memories are the areas Cavas sends you to. They're like any other area in Path of Exile, except they decay over time. Since the release of Synthesis almost two weeks ago, we have been given plenty of feedback about what players are liking and not liking during their playthrough of the league. This has not only prompted many patches that are already deployed, but also a lot of internal discussion that has resulted in a pretty large-scale set of changes that we intend to deploy next week. While these changes are still being tested, we wanted to give you an update of the direction we're going with the league. 
We've just released the Raven Demon Wings for those of you who prefer a dark and gory style for your characters. 
Yesterday we talked about our plans for this week's patch. We expect to deploy the 3.6.2 patch tomorrow (Friday NZDT). We managed to add quite a number of improvements and completed fixes to this update, so today we're ready to share a preview of its patch notes with you. 
We've just introduced the Lava Aura Effect which replaces the standard effect of an Aura gem with a burning hot and molten one. 
We're continuing to work on improvements for recent content, based on your feedback. We're planning to release the 3.6.2 patch by the end of this working week, which contains a lot of Betrayal changes as well as whatever Synthesis ones are ready.
