Totem type enemies e.g. the teeny mononoke sprite ones, the others in the Kaom themed areas, and the larger boss types aren't gaining grasping vines. Rakango do though, probably because submerging counts as movement or something. The chonker totems like atoll boss but also the adds it spawns do not gain vines.
