[2022] Could I please play maelstrom and assignments with just 2 people?

I only play this game with one mate and I’d love to be able to play the assignments and maelstrom with just him. I know playing with a third shouldn’t be a big deal but sometimes I just want to chill with just 1 other plus quite often the 3rd acts like a know it all egotistical douchebag.

The base game seems to adjust for the amount of people you are playing with so maybe they could do that for assignments/maelstrom, but even if they don’t I’d still like to be able to play with just 1 other.
