So after playing the R6 Containment event, making questionable financial decisions, and scouring the map for more clues on the chimera virus is like to share my findings
Spoilers for anyone reading beyond this point, stay safe REACT team
Ok, so let’s start with the map design
First , this is our first real look at the way the Archæns adapt their environment and how they interact with other organisms. We’ve had pointers to go off of from the trailers and Outbreak but this shows us how it’s progressed
One first major difference are nests, which seem to be the first form of organized life beyond the sprawl that seems to cover the map, and the collective intelligence that seems to be shared between nests.
Something else major is we do have confirmation that the archæns do “harvest” bodies of humans. As a little Easter egg for the map there is a room next to the staircase that clearly shows three human like corpses hanging from the ceiling.
Finally there are two area of the map where you can find audio Easter eggs about the parasite, the first location is the consulate radio on the second floor that has a radio talkshow going over the conspiracies about what’s going on at the consulate building, not much to go over there, but the real interesting audio actually comes from the office in garage, where you can hear a scientists struggle to stay alive while observing the archæns and fighting off the parasite infecting him. I’d suggest you attempt to listen to these audio clips yourself
Finally, I’d like to share some theories about the protæns
From what I found with the scientist, it may not be far off to conclude that the archæns are infecting human hosts and using them to increase thier numbers and intelligence, it may not be a coincidence that the parasite has taken on the human forms of aruni, jaeger, kaid, mira, and warden.
This is pure speculation territory beyond this point, get ya salt shakers ready
I know ubi has explicitly stated that this is non cannon, however that does not necessarily mean it doesn’t include cannon elements.
I have spent time creating a rough timeline of events at the consulate building, here’s what I’ve got
First, the parasite is discovered at the consulate and the newly formed REACT send out scientists and a squad of operators to check it out
Next, the scientists and operators successfully lockdown the building and begin running tests on the parasite, which is willingly laying dormant to lull the site into a false sense of security
Next, after allowing the archæns to permeate and continue to persist, the archæns strike out against the team in a ambush attack from the armored nest at the center of consulate, catching the operators stationed there off guard and either eliminating or capturing all personnel
Now, because the parasite had been starved of resources and needed to defend itself, it created the protæns by fully infecting the stationed operators and gave them orders to protect the minor nests in order to begin creating grunts
Finally, REACT gets the call and sends in a strike team to look for survivors and eliminate the parasite
