Now don't get me wrong, I've had some good experiences with Siege back when I played it, and I love Extraction so far. It just feels like Extraction manages to accomplish something closer to the original feel of older R6 games (including Vegas) with aliens.
You have gathering your intel with recon using drones or scan grenades. Then there's tactics involved with how your team clears an area, whether you slowly do it with stealthier approach, or breach fast and try to clear everything before enemies raise the alarm. There's different kinds of objectives which involve a variety of gunfighting versus playing quietly. The element of surprise and ambush are crucial to success, and open firefights with an alerted enemy can be very dangerous and overwhelm you quickly. Operator health persists through missions and they need to heal over time (VERY old r6 games were like this) and you have to use a variety of them. All of this is done while utilizing the meta or mechanics that are central to R6 Siege's gameplay.
It's like Swat 4, old R6 Terrorist Hunt, and Ready or Not, except you can shoot to kill every time.
