These were games being made by Jagex’s former owners Fukong Interactive for the Chinese market. They were in early development at the time of that video.

The games actually looked good but Fukong had financial challenges (well documented). Long story short, we don’t have a relationship with them anymore and they don’t have the rights to make RuneScape games.

Hey everyone. Got a quick update here on the Mobile front based on some new changes incoming today - we'll be adding this to TWIR shortly.

Mobile Minimum Requirements Update

As part of our work to offer a top-drawer experience when we launch on Mobile this Summer, we've been undergoing a huge review of devices that are part of the Beta and the performance experience they offer.

While we have plenty of continued improvements and refinements coming for Mobile, we have identified a number of devices that simply won't hit the quality bar we need due to hardware limitations.

Based on these reviews, beginning later today we'll be updating our minimum requirements on Android to require Android 8.0 or higher, as well as 2GB of RAM.

While this won't impact the vast majority of players in the Android Open Beta, those with devices that don't meet these requirements will unfortunately no longer be able to play once this change comes in...

It’s on their list to tackle but again player rework is eating that team’s time right now.

Yeah, the player rework team are mostly character artists and animators (not surprisingly), so needed some environment artist time from another team when the release schedule allowed.

Mod Chilly, the absolute champion, kindly took a break from Davendale this sprint and stepped up to the challenge.

After a solid two weeks of tweaking thousands upon thousands of cube maps (Gielinor may look small on the surface but there are a lot of interiors and dungeons and off world spaces), he's on track to finish the initial implementation this sprint.

(And Mod Chilly seemed inexplicably cheerful and apparently sane in Friday's standup, which further proves my theory that he's superhuman.)

It took a smallish army of internal and outsource QA to keep up with him. Not least because they're also testing these new avatars as soon as they're modelled, the systemic and newplayer components of the next mobile release, and the next engine build.

And Mod ...

We are still planning to take action, but the team involved have been prioritizing the last of the accounts in the Login Lockout before we move into this. That work has pretty much finished as of today, so we'll definitely have an update on this soon.

Is this compatibility mode? And what graphics card?

Does this address the issues some people are having with regard being able render inventory icons and some areas being pitch black?

This is the issue I'm referring to with rendering some areas, from another thread 13 hours ago.

This started yesterday.

We're looking into this as well.

After yesterday's client update that caused this issue, the lighting in the game became darker. It's very apparent when fighting Raksha. You can barely see any detail on him because of how dark it gets.

We're looking into this also.

We're looking into this at the moment. Just to check, have you tried playing without being in Compatibility Mode?

We've just released a Warmfix for this - let us know if it resolves this for you. Thread is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/n6z62w/desktop_warmfix_release_stuck_on_loading_screen/

Post

We have rolled out a fix for the issue causing some players to get stuck on a loading screen when logging in or teleporting to specific locations.

Please restart your client to get this fix. This will be addressed on Mobile in a future update.

Update: May 7th, 14:15 Game Time.

We have just released the final remaining accounts from the Login Lockout back into the game, with only a select few on hold temporarily.

If you are now not back in the game, you'll be receiving an email shortly regarding your account. The single-digit group of remaining accounts are those impacted by the lockout, not identified and locked immediately, and made a decent amount of progress before we ended up locking the account for safety.

We just want to make sure we don't restore anyone who would prefer just to keep going, so we'll be asking them to contact us with the decision to restore like everyone else or just have their account unlocked as it was. We have the restoration ready, so if you are in that group, your account is ready to go either way as soon as we hear from you and we'll sort you out asap.

Note: If you are locked out and don't receive an email, please reach out in ...
