Hey! If possible and if you're on PC, could you try these steps in order? We've seen some players get past the unexpected error by doing so:
Uninstall Sonic Studio
If you have a VPN, this might interfere. Be sure your anti virus isn't affecting the game too.
Reboot PC/Reinstall the game
Use the Saved Folder delete process: Search "%localappdata%" in your Windows search bar, find TOM, make a copy of the save folder on your Desktop for security and delete the original save folder.
Please let me know if any of this solves it - would really appreciate it just to verify. Thanks!

Yeah of course! I’ve been playing on PS5. It seems to happen the most often in saga mode when trying to activate any of the beacons. People will stop moving and the activation circle animation will still play, but nothing will happen at the end of the count down. Then it will kick me out of the lobby. I hope this info helps, Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help make this easier!

Wait what? Why would the PS4 and PS5 versions not cross-play with each other? That makes no sense.
Update - yes there is cross-gen play. We just hadn't fully confirmed it yet, but it's confirmed now. :)

We'll support cross-gen play with PS4/PS5 day one! There will also be cross saves.
They have mentioned in Discord that there will be ways to unlock previous season content after the season ends (but how you unlock them may be different). They have also stated that previous Sagas will be kept.
Yep exactly! Seasonal content will remain because the aim is to build upon previous seasons, to create more of a sandbox-style Viking experience. But yes, the way you unlock Seasonal rewards will change when a new season rolls over.
What about the classes you unlock if you start a new game do you have to unlock them again?
You start with a new class each game! You don't have to unlock them again once you've unlocked them once though. Those unlocks stay permanent

It happens in both game modes yes! The XP carried over will give you "season" progression, so you'll unlock more and more as you level up. Ie. one seasonal reward we mentioned is Starter Packs, so for example, you'll start a game with a tool already equipped. So each time you level up (overall) it will make the next run a bit different. I hope that helps!
Are we going to lose our character progression when difficulty eventually gets too tough or just lose map progress and have to start our base from scratch?
You will keep your Player progression overall! You gain XP when finishing a game to carry over and unlock rewards for your next run. However each time you start a world, your Avatar level will start from the beginning. You'll level up in game and be able to use blessing points in your skill tree.

Has it been confirmed that there's no PS4/PS5 crossplay? At least not yet?
That would be unfortunate. This game does seem pretty neat, and most of my friends DO have PS5s now, but even still at this rate PC/PS4/PS5 crossplay isn't all that uncommon now, so to see the lack of even PS4/PS5 crossplay would be unfortunate.
Hopefully this can be added in relatively soon. Either way, this game does look pretty fun!
We have no news on cross-gen just yet, unfortunately that is all I can share for now. I will say it's something we're definitely interested in, and know that others are too, for sure. We'll make an official post here when/if we can confirm.

Is there any info if these will be season passes? I’m hoping they’re just monthly updates or whatever and we don’t have to fish out 10 bucks every other month
Hey! There will not be a season pass. The updates will come every 4 months (with 2 month, Mid-Season updates in between) and they will be free content (check out our Road Map here)!
