Of course our games are not tested with a setup like that.

Do you get this with HOI4 and Imperator too?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

Has this always happened for you with this game? Or it was okay up to some point?

Did you in particular try fullScreen, Vsync off, and the refresh rate capped to 60?

The 1603/1605 errors we see there are typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

Otherwise run the Update app in Windows, does it load okay, find anything to apply - whether a patch, update, or whole new Windows 10 version? If so do that and reboot, then try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? If there's a problem doing that, use this MS tool to fix that:

I suspect your Steam reinstall was not a clean one.

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-EU4
- exit the Steam app completely
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/EU4 AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4 folders

- delete everything in the Steam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the SteamApps folder
- run steam.exe to rebuild all that

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add EU4.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

Good luck with that!

Hmm, well it must be there somewhere! Unfortunately I can't check that for you as I don't have a subscription of course. Does a search for subscription_dlc find it?

We now have reports of this with Avast antivirus only, except just 1 report on AVG. Putting C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe in all its exceptions lists, then deleting that sqlite folder one more time, seems to be fixing it reliably.

I also have one report that opting into the beta of the next launcher version 2022.1 helped.

All the best!

ChoGGi_2 said: Well, that's interesting. This guy also has a save with 2983 Sols and that bugs out at 2984 as well.
Definitely interesting, nearly 3,000 sols. I wonder if it was ever tested that far. Is this maybe a limitation of the game, some counter or internal resource running out?

Looks like you've got past the Avast/launcher issue, and not have a separate problem getting the game going. If you run eu4.exe directly from File Explorer does it start? IF NOT In the game launcher please set Display mode to Borderless. THEN go here:

I don't know where GoG store cloud saves I'm afraid.

What if you make local saves though, do they work okay?

At the moment it's not possible to disable specific DLC unless you edit a file on your PC.

1. Go here and edit the following file using notepad (right click > open with Notepad): %userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\dlc_load.json

2. Once you have it open, locate the following line:

“subscription_dlc/”:
{
"enabled_mods":[],
"disabled_dlcs":["subscription_dlc/dlc/dlc010_conquest_of_paradise/dlc010.dlc"]
}

3. This is where you can disable DLC manually, you can disable one or several by adding them to the same row. For example, this line disables both Conquest of Paradise and Origins:

"disabled_dlcs":["subscription_dlc/dlc/dlc010_conquest_of_paradise/dlc010.dlc","subscription_dlc/dlc/dlc110_origins/dlc110.dlc"]}

You can get the DLC names in the Steam EU4 folder, under subscription_dlc/dlc/ .

My guess is the game was supported on 10.11 when released several years ago, but is simply not tested on versions that old any more. Maybe not even 10.12 for all I know.

Can you not update to anything later?

That probably rules out blocked ports, so I'm really not sure what could possibly be causing this to you - alone as far as I know.

If you ever get the chance to test this on another machine anywhere please let me know the outcome.

When you start the game from Steam you get three MP options. Have you tried all three?

What I'd suggest is a full clean reinstall of the game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\{large number}\
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- unsubscribe from ALL Mods in the Steam Workshop for this game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Surviving Mars AND C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\ folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add MarsSteam.exe to the exceptions list/whitelist of your antivirus app
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam SM or AppData SM locations, before installing again.

It's not impossible, but if so why is it not affecting everyone playing via Steam?

Do you have access to any other computer, either in the same network or elsewhere, to test this on?

No real idea, sorry, I'm not aware of this as a general bug.

Does it matter who is host?

Can the MP save be loaded in single player and proceed okay?

Any mods in use?

Neither the game nor our launcher changed a few days ago, so I have no idea why this is affecting you right now.

Can you connect via a VPN or a mobile phone hotspot and see if you get the same problem? If not, most likely you have a local firewall getting in the way I guess.
