CR4CE said: Welp, none of these I own. I did have CK2 on xbox Game Pass, but not anymore. But I don't really remember it flickering, but to be honest, I haven't played it a lot.
FYI CK2 is free to play on Steam now.

Let me know what happened with all 7 of those installs, thanks. Any error or problem with any one of them?

And please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

What happens if your friend hosts?

When you launch this game there are three MP options; have you two tried all three?

Technically speaking the game is not supported on M1 hardware, but other users have found it runs fine.

Is that black screen our launcher? Or that's okay and the black screen is the game itself?

That looks like a video driver issue to me. Has this game ever worked on this machine? Or never yet?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

CR4CE said: This flickering only occurs in Stellaris, none of my other games are having this issue. I would love to test other PDX games, but I don't know which ones run the same engine.
All the ones we write do: CK2, EU4, HOI4; with a much later version of Clausewtiz also CK3, I:R

Is it particular to a time of day perhaps? Happens in some rooms in your house but not others?

Do you have any other machines there you can try it on?

That error log shows a corrupted game installation. Perhaps the mod caused that.

I see. But just because that version has a different launcher does not mean the problem is caused by that different launcher! Again, If you run eu4.exe directly and it fails to start, your problem is nothing to do with the launcher.

Please Install ALL these Microsoft modules:

Then I suspect your issue comes from outside the game. Perhaps interference from power lines, fluorescent lights, a negative ion generator - anything like that?

Toride said: p.s. (2) : dear Paradox developers, as (maybe) some sort of not just solution, but also QoL stuff, if it is somehow possible, can you please add option "Sound Output Device" to game options? Some games have it, and it is very useful when PC have multiple sound devices.
Developers do not read this forum, FYI. This request would be best posted in the Suggestions forum for this game.

Thanks and good luck!

There is no crash in this game recorded in that dxdiag. In fact it's weirdly blank at the end there. Are they having any other problems on this machine?

Note that with an Intel video system, there is no need to run in borderless mode; that issue only happens on nVidia.

It seems a bit odd to me that the Intel video driver is from 2020 in a Windows 11 installation. I suggest they go to Acer support and check for a newer one, or Intel themselves:

This is certainly caused by AVG. Putting in exceptions for a folder will do nothing; you need to tell AVG to not block C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe
from doing what it wants to. You may need help from AVG support on how to ensure that.

Those folders are not created by installing the game. They are created by running it from the Steam PLAY button; some by the launcher and some by the game itself.

Have you since run the game? Does it work?

Does this happen in a new test campaign which NO mods have ever been used with? Because uninstalling mods does not remove effects they have already had on a save game file.

If you run eu4.exe directly and it fails to start, your problem is nothing to do with the launcher.

FrezzyPL said: I cant show you my launche cause i would need to downgrade to 1.28 version just to screenshot it
But I don't understand this. Are you saying if you run the 1.34.x game version from the Steam PLAY button, you don't even see the launcher at all?

Playset refers to a collection of mods (user-written game modifications), which are not relevant to your problem - presumably you have none yet.

I don't know why the PLAY button is greyed out. What launcher version do you see? Current is 2021.10.1

And what happens if you run eu4.exe directly from file explorer?
