We now have reports of this with Avast antivirus only, except just 1 report on AVG. Putting C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe in all its exceptions lists, then deleting that sqlite folder one more time, seems to be fixing it reliably.

I also have one report that opting into the beta of the next launcher version 2022.1 helped.

All the best!

When you say it is the same, is this also true of you?
Just tried rolling back to older versions, they still run badly, even though they ran fine earlier in 2021.

What I can see in that dxdiag is your Intel HD 620 video system is unsupported by either game; it is significantly weaker than the minimum requirement for this game, the Iris Pro 580:

As per my previous post it is bootstrapper-v2.exe not bootstrapper.exe

If it is not there, your antivirus app has deleted or quarantined it.

Do you have a split power grid perhaps?

That pretty clearly shows this is some local issue in your machine, rather than a game problem as such.

Does that also affect say CK2, EU4, HOI4 or Stellaris?

Can you then try moving this machine to another network/location? Or have another machine in this network/location to test on?

This is to pin down if the issue is confined to this one machine, this location/network, or perhaps your account in some way.

That save hangs for me too, so I'm afraid it is a lost cause. That specific issue is not one I've come across before, I have to say!

No real idea what might have caused that but it seems unlikely it will happen again.

Sorry about that!

That sounds pretty bad, the save may be corrupt. Did you have a game or computer crash while playing perhaps?

You can start and play a new test campaign okay, is that right?

We see some LiveKernelEvent entries in there, which happen when the machine or Window is forcibly downed or rebooted. Are you seeing that, is it related to this game or something else?

That aside I see no clear cause of this in there. If you make a new Windows user on this machine, log into it with that, and try the game there do you still get this?

That's interesting because your dxdiag has several crashes in stellaris.exe but none in eu4.exe

Anyway may as well update that nVidia driver to Dec 2021:
Download Drivers | NVIDIA because I don't see any other cause of this in those files!

Has this always happened ever since you've had the game? Or it was okay up to some point?

We could try a clean reinstall of the AMD driver:

- uninstall it with this tool:
https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx - reboot
- install it again by fresh download
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download - reboot again

That would normally indicate a video driver or hardware problem, but I see no sign of that in that system.log

Has the game ever worked on this machine? Or never yet?

Does Eu4 work okay?

Did you try a VPN or mobile phone hotspot, form the problem machine?

Has the game ever run OK on this computer? Or never?

I see you have Stellaris too, does it work or have the sam eproblem?

What do you see if you run eu4.exe directly from File Explorer?

That is usually an antivirus app getting in the way. You need to make sure all these apps are in its exceptions lists:

stellaris.exe and dowser.exe (in the Steam Stellaris folder)
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2.2021.10.1/paradox launcher.exe
C:/users//AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/bootstrapper-v2.exe

IF that does not help, also set all those .exe files (EXCEPT stellaris.exe!) to run as the Windows Admin user.

I don't know why this has happened to you twice, I don't think we've had any other reports like this at all.

I was able to duplicate it though; indeed the whole of Sol 271 was really slow, I guess from the size of your colony. Maybe it simply ground to a halt.

I've logged a bug on it now and attached your save there. Not sure when it will be addressed, so just put that save aside and try it when you see new patches come out.

Sorry for that problem!

If those DLCs show as enabled in the game's Load Save menu, then they are in effect in the game for sure.

From that error log it's clearly in the video area. When you say it bricks the game, do you mean the whole computer perhaps? I ask because I see several LiveKernelEvents in that dxdiag, which happen when a machine or Windows is rebooted without being downed properly. Are they related to this game, do you know?
