in general for any given game, each expansion will sell less than the previous one regardless of features. We were pleasantly surprised by how well Path of Fire sold.

But yes, currencies alone is ridiculous in Gw2... something needs to change there.

Glad you found some enjoyment though!

I honestly couldn't get into the game until I tried the engi. My first character was a necro, and it just didn't fit my fantasy for that class. Engi fit perfectly what I wanted (also it was fun causing explosions in the Ash missions where everyone as acting stealthy)

If you think about it, aren't we all underwater when it's cloudy?

just a nitpick, but you can specify different from: and reply-to: addresses

oh, interesting, I was unaware of that "feature"

Hey Paul, is there a way to make these emails look more legit? Please look into that if you got time to avoid this sort of understandable confusion

I'm not sure that there is. It is an email from an @arena.net email address, whose call to action is to reply. There are no links in it, and since the from field is an @arena.net email address, the response would go to our mail servers (unless there's a man-in-the-middle attack). I fully support being hyper-vigilant for scams, but I don't know what can be done to make this look more legitimate.

In lieu of the scams running rampant right now, would it be better to post in a discord or on the forums for volunteers instead? I'm junking all email and calls that aren't from people I know these days.

that would increase the selection bias to the people who frequent the discords and forums, unfortunately. Everyone has an email associated with their account, so we can get send emails to people who play the game modes we're interested in for the specific survey. There is still selection bias in the people that choose to respond of course, but there's not much we can do about that.

edit: I should note that I'm not on the analytics team, so I'm not certain of their rationale, but this seems correct to me.

Unfortunately they are soulbound so they cannot be put into shared inventory slots

yeah, I pop over there from time to time, but the latency makes it difficult for me to do much.

Ah so that's why they stopped! I was wondering what happened to those. Always was fun to see the zombie horde chasing you guys around 😅

I'm not 100% sure on that, but I think it's the reason. The timing works out, at least.

We used to have a WvW stream every week where the WvW team and a guest dev would go into WvW tagged up. I think that stopped when the main person doing it got promoted to a lead and didn't have time for it any more though. More recently (maybe 6 months ago) the engineering team did go into WvW together with a bunch of minion mancers to maximize the number of Anet tags, but nothing in any way organized in a while.

I'll hop around on different servers when I WvW to give different people the opportunity to kill me then :)

yep, I claim objectives (usually camps) for ArenaNet in WvW, just to do this, and give all the NPCs at the objective the ArenaNet tag on their nameplate :)

I personally enjoy playing through expansion story on the elite spec for that expansion and unlocking more skills and traits as I play through. It helps me ease myself into the spec, and I get a bit more of a sense of progression from it that way. But if you're doing instanced group content, definitely don't play a spec you haven't fully unlocked yet, since it will hurt the experience of your teammates as well.

Ok I'll give fractals a shot. How far away am I from being able to play Raids? I'm guessing I'm quite far off but T4 fractals should help with that?

Raids are a different beast and I'm not really sure. Exotics should be fine for them, but you'll probably want to find a raid training group, or possibly a group of other fresh players who are interested in figuring things out with you.

yeah, that's fair

Most of the time there should be Fractal groups in LFG for the dailies, just look for anything from scale 1-19 (20+ starts requiring agony resistance). Most fractals at this level are pretty forgiving on mechanics combat-wise, with the exceptions of the final boss of Siren's Reef (scale 12), and Mai Trin (scale 18).

I added the ability to set those to Total Completion instead of Tier Completion last year. This helps with the things that aren't actually near completion (looking at you Dry Top coins). The filters that were added at the same time also work there, although it doesn't automatically refresh, since the person working on that and I didn't know that we were both updating the Achievements UI at the same time.

Those are items that you consume to get a currency with the same name and icon. There is content in the game that requires you to consume candy corn for its current effect, such as https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/No_Respect_for_You
