It's being extended for a week. But they're changing the mode. Then there's another playlist.

Hey Jeff, how do we participate in the Art book give away? Do we sign up with a link you post?

I’ll post the link in the calendar tomorrow. It will have a form to fill out with details etc.

Hey, u/Braddock512, what is your opinion on staff morale currently? Are you able to share your opinions on what dev the team thinks right now? Like how they view the TTK changes, the state of the community, and the state of the game?

I’m not at liberty to discuss that.

No, it’s not.

What is your opinion on what's coming up? Do you think people will be happy to hear the news that's dropping soon?

I hope so. I really do. I'm hopeful that the next couple updates can rebuild a portion of the shattered trust with the community - but I'm not naive. I know there's a lot of anger and I know there's a lot of frustration - not just because of 5.2 & 5.2.2.
We'll see what happens as we make the announcements at that time.

They only thing that you have ever said about 5.2, or 5.2.2, is that "you don't have anything you can share yet"...

That is about as close to completely in the dark as it gets. It may not be bottom of the Mariana Trench card, but that is certainly darker than nightlight.

Something, anything, a tiny little bread crumb.

That's factually incorrect.
I've stated - a few times, in fact - that the team is taking the feedback from the community to continue tweaking and adjusting the way weapons work to improve it.

I haven't been silent. I haven't said what you want/demand me to say - because I'm not at liberty to make that decision - one way or the other.
But I have talked about it - I've mentioned that I understand how frustrating it is for many with the changes, that I'm sharing the feedback (that isn't 3 words long and has in-depth details on why folks want things reverted), and that I'm waiting on a go-ahead on what I'm allowed to share with the community.
Most of the time anything I say is gonna get downvoted regardless what it is because ... whatever.. but if I comment on a thread, you can see it because of the Reddit bot is putting the comments at the top of the thread.

You don't have to give a timeframe, just a simple yes or no. I know you're not the ultimate decision maker, but you need to do better. Keeping us 100% in the dark isn't a solution.

Keeping us 100% in the dark isn't a solution.

I agree. And I haven't kept you 100% in the dark. I haven't had a lot I'm allowed to share, and to be blunt, I'm not going to "go rogue" and just leak info. (I like being able to pay my bills and stuff.)When we (PartWelsh or myself) have something we can share that has been approved by the Dev team to share, we will.

My god. I have never seen a more incognito, glued lips, slammed shut dev team.

This is beyond frustrating because I care immensely about this game (and many of us do despite the posts of disapproval, we just want improvement) and all we've been getting is soon™ instead of any meaningful updates or proper news that we've all been dying for.

It's been this way since y'all left for Christmas lmao

Do you think I enjoy not being able to share stuff yet? I promise you, I don't. (This isn't a "poor me" post, either. This is the job I have.) If things aren't approved for me to message, I can't share it. But I'm trying to at least respond the question rather than just ignore it.

The reason I'm not allowed to give snippets of info on specific subjects is because the team has announced stuff in the past and missed deadlines or had to rescope - and the backlash from that is just as bad, if not worse, than not saying anything.

I'm a little confused about the choice to delay this post to Tuesday. The stated reason for the delay was that "Nothing major is happening Monday," but it doesn't seem like anything significant is happening today either. The biggest thing is the bullet points in the "Notes & Addendums" section, but that's just telling us that you'll be able to share more about Chapter 6 in the future.

Was the delay mostly about the US holiday yesterday, or is there something in the post today that you didn't have authorization to post on Monday?

Well, one - I was off and I wanted to give the team an extra day of discussions to see what we could talk about regarding the next Chapter, tweaks & changes coming in the next update, and, of course, the biggest topic within the community right now.
Unfortunately, nothing to share just yet - the blog and video are being finalized, but we do potentially have a Community Broadcast coming on Thursday.

Nothing I can discuss.
If we get PartWelsh's Community Broadcast approved for posting on Thursday, we'll have some info about the next steps the team is taking.

Just saw some Confluence pages that really great - but until I know a date on the rollout of the items, I can't discuss them. It's definitely something I'm very interested in getting to the live version of the game.

Post

Here's another week of OIB Moments of the Week.

Voting will be closed at 2PM PDT, Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020 and this post will be updated with the winners. (This gives everyone a bit of time to view the videos and vote.)

Just a quick reminder:

  • There will be two weekly winners.
  • Winners will receive THREE (3) #BestCommunityintheWorld Emblem codes (redeemable in Origin or on Origin.comfor all platforms attached to the account) to share with their community, followers, or friends.

Do they not have enough work to do already?

Some are, yes. We have training for social media and public speaking. Basically to help devs who want to jump into it to understand what can/can’t be said, how to avoid getting into tough situations where they may say the wrong thing, etc.

Within the games industry, there are a lot of devs that don’t feel comfortable going out there on their personal accounts. They love what they do and work hard, but they want a separation of work/life.

Currently it’s easy to maintain air superiority when it’s established because the enemy replacements trickle in instead of spawning in as a group. A Squad of planes are more threatening than a single plane trying to make a difference.

Great idea.

I think its the latter, because if they give the CM's information that is later changed, the community comes back to bite their arse about them "lying", And NDA's and all that, so even if he doesn't talk about it, Its just a risky manouver telling things about work in progress things to other folk that aren't devs

Bit of both. But we don’t talk about things that aren’t locked - especially after this summer - that can change because of the exact reason you mention.

The devs also communicate directly with the community sometimes but like in every big institution or company you have someone who is responsible for doing that just like press secretaries from governments. These guys gather info from different departments and announce them in the correct way. This way the devs can focus on their actual work. Imagine how much time you alone spend here while writing something. A dev needs to be more careful on what he says and that would just take too much time from all devs combined

100% this.
