This is a super simplistic version, and doesn't do justice to the work involved.

It's the nature of software development. We work in branches, so while we have our launch day branch any spin-offs (betas, demo, E3, gamescom etc) all get created from it.

The beta was taken a few months ago from our main build, and from there you then go into hardening mode. This is where you focus on bugs, stability and no further work should get checked in. With each check-in, comes the risk of new issues coming up (as is the case with Software Development). We're making so many changes to the build so you have to make a call between locking the build or stopping active development.

We don't want to stop development of our launch build, so you have to 'cap' the branched build (in this case the beta) at a specific time.

This won't be unique to us, this is how the industry will operate as a whole.

The same thing will happen to release builds the clo...

Been a lot of improvements to the options menu for launch. The above video is a bug that has been squished. Nuances that come with a build that's a few months old.

Definitely has its issues, not sure how old this build is but can see it being a solid title with more polishing

A couple of months old. Fair to say a significant amount of fixes, tweaks and improvements have gone into it since then.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like the Simpsons where everything becomes true.

Make cool sh*t, show people it.

With so much great software available these days, with zero barrier to entry, there is no excuse not to have some experience in something.

Doesn't have to be anywhere near the scale of a AAA game, or even an Indie for that matter. Whether it's a small environment scene in Unreal, some 3D models in Blender or a mini game in Unity.

Make cool stuff, and have fun while you're doing it. Never lose the fun aspect, games have to be fun.

Best of luck on your career endeavours!

Fun to find them while they are flying their drone though.

BF1942 came out a year after I finished school (secondary/high), where they told me that game development wasn't a valid career choice and I should pick something else 🙃

Came out 19years ago if I'm not mistaken? In another 19years it'll be 2040 gulp

Next to impossible sadly.

Watched a teammate drive a LATV4 off the top of a building today, quickly prompting a bunch of others to jump off and take the fight to the ground level, with a firefight taking place in the air via parachute. Fun stuff.

Looking forward to seeing your clips.
