Happy cake day 🎂🎈
Well it is reassuring to know that there are eyes from the team in this sub. Wether or not anything being said will be taken onboard is another thing entirely. Either way I’m interested to see what the game is like is at launch, I’ve had mixed experiences with the beta but I’m overall hopeful. (I’m in agreement with the opinions that the class system should never have left though)
A lot of eyes (hey folks o7). You may not always see the "DICE Replied" flair, but if we could have a "DICE seen" everything would be covered.
Anecdotally, and back from my days in Community I can tell you that everything being discussed, created, watched, streamed and everything in-between is more than likely being tracked. Game companies will know conversation volume, sentiment and all those other buzz words for every part of a game's lifespan.
u/F8RGE thoughts on a post like this gaining lots of traction in the subreddit
There's nothing I can realistically say here that won't end up as a headline on a website or used as YouTube clickbait. So not sure what is expected, it's also not really my place. I'm aware that everything I say reflects on my team members, and even if it's just a throw away comment, it can quickly turn into "DICE says..." as if it's some sort of studio mandate.
Yes, I'm a part of the team but that does not mean I should be speaking publicly about anything and everything. Let alone speaking about something related to finance, because it's not my area of expertise at all.
Important thing to note is that this sub has more eyes on it from the game team than perhaps you'd expect. I know for a fact that there are even a few dedicated souls scouring new. So when a post like this appears, or anything that gets even remotely 'hot' (in Reddit terms), it's almost certainly been seen by countless people.
Again, not the answer you're probably looking for, but wanted to...
Read moreOh don’t bug him, I asked him already and I’d hate to keep him busy with things I realize you guys might not even be allowed to comment on :)
Thanks for the reply regardless.
Dozer is Mexican, not US Army. Although he used to be.
Should also get assists for kills your gunners get.
Yes
Thank you for clearing it up <3 do you also get points for assisted kills or anything else in transport aircraft?
Yes to gaining assists (and the XP that comes with it) while you're transporting people around.
I assume point system will be in the final game. Everything else would make nonsense spotting also needs to be rewarded.
This is improved at launch. You'll get XP if you're piloting a vehicle and a teammate spawns on you. Similar for events such as resupplying ammo, spotting etc.
There is a little barrier for entry, you have to own a tower computer or a good laptop in order to use programs like blender. Lots of people live paycheck to paycheck and don't own or can't afford a computer.
I used a library growing up, which had a PC that could be used. Libraries have only gotten better over the years. But it is a fair point you bring up.
That one where hosts talked about the idea of "connecting the world again" being a "huge pile of bs". Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear more because I got blown up by a tank:(
There are multiple out there. Hopefully next time the tank goes easy on you and can finish your listening. Thank you for the pleasant conversation.
I got really hyped when heard a talk show on the radio. Love this type of storytelling
Ah, good to hear. Worth keeping an ear out for more of that, especially as you travel across maps.
Which one did you hear?
I remember your work on Battlefront 2 subreddit, I'm glad you're here!
Hello there
guy is complaining about doing his job lmfao this game and industry is f**ked. bf2042 delayed and you wanna get pissy at your consumers. eat shit and go back to fixing the game before it launches too early on november the game clearly needs help
Thank you for your feedback.
Might be more than music if you keep your ears out...
It baffles me how they didn't fire their entire UI team after BFV.
And it sure seems like they didn't.
Day 1 of the beta and we're already in the territory of people losing their jobs. Have you ever asked yourself why you don't have more devs interacting with players across the industry?
There's a valid way to give feedback, I don't think anyone on the team is against receiving it when it's done in a constructive way. But the amount of personal attacks I've seen in just a few hours since it went live is disappointing.
Everyone that contributes to our UI are fantastic people, super colleagues and talented developers.
Are factions map-specific? For instance, the beta map is a Pacific island, so the US faction is Marines--if it's a city siege or a forest map, would the US faction change to US Army?
I ask because several vehicles (Apache, Little Bird clone, tanks, which Marines no longer use) are Army vehicles, while others are Marine vehicles. I also noticed Dozer is a US soldier. It would be cool since the Army is never in modern BF games for some reason.
It's USA and Russia, with you playing as No-Pats on each side. The vehicles are what you'll use across all maps.
Dozer is Mexican.
Orbital is located in French Guiana, not a Pacific Island.
Y'know, you guys should one day go in-depth about the process of game development and what goes on behind the scenes for stuff like beta/preview builds and what that timeframe looks like. That'd make for a great Battlefield Briefing!
I think going deeper into how games are made would greatly benefit the industry as a whole. Does come with its own set of challenges and obstacles to overcome.
What’s with the scoreboard? I’m unable to see my deaths. Will that also be fixed for launch? It’s just pretty infuriating.
I played Conquest today in a playtest and could see my deaths, if that helps.
You guys really need to streamline the control options, there are so many settings just strewen around so many sub-menus.
It's something we've done. Moved things around so they are better placed, reworded how some things are called to give greater clarity, better descriptions and previews etc
Then why aren’t we testing the latest working build ?
Because we're still working on it. It's not advised to release a piece of software that is actively being developed on. You always need that hardening window to help stabilise and fix critical issues etc.
It's super unclear whether a setting is on or off when it's highlighted.
To confirm, that has been improved in our latest builds.
