In version 1.5, we introduced additional security checks in Vermintide 2. It will report an `SSL_CONNECT_ERROR` if Vermintide 2 can't securely connect to our back end.

Perhaps you're on business WiFi or a university campus which filters certain websites, or your parents have installed 'web nanny' software that monitors what kind of network traffic you're receiving, and blocking based on certain criteria.

What those filters need to do is look at your traffic. The only way to do that, when you're using secure https connections, is to either compromise the hardware router you're using, or install 'snooping' software on your machine.

In order to access the Vermintide 2 service you will need to make adjustments to these or request that administrators make adjustments to these to ignore the Vermintide 2 service. Regrettably, we cannot offer much advice on specifics since there are simply too many variables involved that can 'compromise' a network, so we recomme... Read more

We're aware some players are crashing as a result of mods since patch 1.5. You can usually tell if a mod is causing your crashes if the information within the error message is referencing a particular mod.

Please disable the offending mod to avoid crashing until the mod has been updated, and be sure to let the mod author know via the mod's Workshop page!

If the mod has been hidden by the mod author, this may result in the launcher crashing when you attempt to disable it. This is a known issue, but in the mean time you can manually unsubscribe from a mod via the Workshop by:

1. Navigate to the Vermintide 2 Workshop page in Steam
2. Hover over the 'Browse' dropdown
3. Select 'Subscribed items' and locate the mod
4. Unsubscribe

Try restarting Steam, your PC or clearing Steam's download cache. Sounds a lot like a known issue where the browser will appear empty for some players, we're looking in to why this occurs.

There's multiple potential solutions for this error.

Firstly, you may need to change your DNS. Instructions on how to switch to Google DNS can be seen here: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

This error can also be indicative of a problem with your Operating System so please ensure you have the latest updates for Windows installed.

Additionally, you may need to uninstall your existing version of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, reboot your PC and reinstall from the Microsoft website: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Development aware of this issue, but it can be resolved in most cases by simply restarting your PC, clearing your Steam download cache or changing your Steam region as mentioned by Rizz.

Unfortunately, the issue may arise again meaning you'll need to repeat the above which I appreciate is less than ideal.

I apologise for not being able to shed more light on the issue, but I simply don't have the details at the moment.

Me and my brother both play VT2 on PC using Xbox one controller since we started on VT1 on console but since this patch if you press the X button at anytime during the game including on the main menu, in keep or in game it will instantly crash. How does a bug like this even make it into the game xD
