believe we still generally want her to be a top laner (even though she has pretty much always been better mid). don't think we'll push hard on it since any work on her is heavily restricted by her traditionally high presence in pro and high elo

we can nerf him pretty hard, thats about it. since hes got wip work, we don't want to do major mechanics changes on top of that, and hes 54-55% winrate in midlane (with an equivalent playrate there to top lane) which prevents us from buffing him anywhere else

We wanted to simplify it if we could, which is why we equalized durations.

But:

  • Baron is a siege buff while elder is a fighting buff.
  • As a fighting buff, it simply takes less time for teams with Elder to force a fight since they have a large advantage vs waiting for minions to siege a lane
  • Even more so, because of this these two buffs play out differently - Baron asks the defending team to take a proactive action and engage a fight (or the cannon minion will take their base), while Elder asks the defending team to avoid a fight and stall out the buff (or they will get rekt by elder advantage). Unsurprisingly then, it also makes sense that Baron buff is harder to wait out (lasts longer) than Elder.
  • Therefore, when Elder ended up significantly overpowered, we will sacrifice simplicity (same buff duration) for better gameplay

edit: looks good to me. it's no longer stand out best keystone on Azir/Ryze/Cass/Aurelion Sol, and it's winrate isn't particularly high on core users (avg winrate across all champs is actually 50.0% exactly over all games so far on 9.24 (literally millions of games))

Agree AP is better right now, but Lethality is getting a small buff which should help AD build (and if we only nerfed by 5% AD ratio, that would be quite a meme nerf).

Clarifying ocean nerf. The regen period was also extended from X over 3s >>> X over 4s

Ocean soul's impact on a team's winrate in an even game was actually around twice as much as baron or cloud soul, so we are nerfing it harder than the other souls

it's aimed at AD/AP jungle and AP support. they are all like, 53-54% winrate for various player groups

Actually probably pulling back on that. we dug into their winrates a bit more in depth after and turns out you should probably be taking conqueror on them

like, a year ago
