Does the game at least try to match by input?
No, because on PC you can switch between gamepad and KBM back and forth instantly.

No mention of Steam release?
Very soon...
The only part that could cause issues is what they've already identified as an issue:
If you wish to disable cross-play altogether, you can disable cross platform play in the settings menu. Doing so will only put you into matches with other users on the same platform, who have also disabled cross platform play. This has a high chance of making your queue times very very long...
Assuming there's no huge advantage between PS4 and XBOX, I kind of wish they just left out the option of turning off cross-play.
Legal requirement. It's not recommended you disable it.
Do you have people working on the issue where you do not see a single team when dropping on an area but when you land all of a sudden there is a team right on your area? Because coming from a Plat solo player every season since Season 1, it’s pretty damn frustrating that I’m still dealing with this shit and it honestly seems like the dev team doesn’t care about this issue at all.
I’m not aware of that issue, I can check if the team is aware. Do you have any additional info on it? Video? What platform and settings, happens every time or sometimes? Ranked or non ranked, etc.
It's not happening in internal testing you said. Could this be because you're playing on extremely low-latency and it could be due to a latency issue between the users? I would venture to bet that it's because there's a desync between the locations of the users.
Perhaps host a dev server further away on a foreign server and log functions that get called when footsteps should be rendered? (software dev not game dev don't know if that's possible)
We have testers all over the world that play together in playtests and we use the same servers we use in retail, so we do get real world testing scenarios. I don't want to get in the weeds about this bug here on Reddit, please trust that we a highly skilled team of developers working on Apex that know their stuff so we just need to give those rock stars some time to do their magic. Appreciate everyone for chiming in!
One more thing, I keep seeing fake beacons marked on the map. When arrive at them there is no beacon to scan with. Is this a known issue?
Not sure, but I'll pass it along and make sure it gets into our bug database. Thank you.
I don't know if it helps your testers, but the problem seems much worse in locations where the area is large and there's significant environmental noise. The biggest offender I can think of is Geyser in Worlds Edge. I have a video I can share where my squad literally is bumping right into an enemy team at full sprint, and neither of us had any footsteps, and you can hear it right on the video.
Sure send over a link, thanks.
Nope haha. That means it was a good idea huh? I base my knowledge of the game purely off of this Reddit sub and haven't seen anything about a new update.
Edit: nevermind I'm an idiot. Didn't see that it was a link.
TLDR we reverted the armor values and fixed some bugs
How about reverting the shield change untill you fix the audio issue? Having less enemy awareness while also having a shorter TTK seems kinda cheaty.
?? Did you see the patch notes this morning?
Not trying to go off topic, as I'm very grateful for these shield changes, but I noticed that under audio, the footsteps haven't been addressed, which is also a big problem this season. Is this still being looked at internally?
We are aware of and have people dedicated to solving the issue. Unfortunately, it's not a simple problem and we're trying very hard to track down the cause. To complicate things, it's never been an issue in our internal playtests when we can actually debug the issue, so having a live game issue with no debugging capability makes it difficult to track down. Just wanted to comment here that we are aware and working on it.
Any chance of some more openness around here on the state of the game?
Whilst it is somewhat reassuring to read that the game is in a "healthy" state, and I'm sure you have the data to back that up, haven't the team been reading the feedback here recently? It has been very negative, and I'd stand by saying that the game hasn't been in worse shape.
Obviously you can't share what metrics you're using but it's getting to the point where it would be good to address the difference in Respawn's view of the game versus this community's. Talking about the state of the game so positively when there are so many issues is pretty disheartening.
There are bugs in the game, and we’re working on those, and we’ll have an update and blog post today to talk about ttk. By healthy game I was referring to the overall health of Apex from a player base. We have a lot of great players out there like yourself who are supporting the game, and that number keeps growing, which means we get to keep working on it so thank you.

We've already announced that crossplay is coming :)
So like, curious, um...any tid bit of an update on internet concerns? (Bugs, high damage weapons low ttk) not trying to hate.
We'll have an update soon.
I can't believe you actually saw it, I know, the game is not dying but I am concerned that that will happen because of all the comments out there. But I love everything you and your team do and I hope I can play my favorite game for longer. There would be a possibility that we could have LTM every 2 weeks, they could be the same modes that you already shown.
Thanks for responding and for watching my video. You are the best.
Yes, it's a possibility!
Nice! It's always fun to look back and where we started and where we are now. We have a lot of amazing content on the way, and the game is definitely not dying, quite the opposite. We're seeing steady growth and have a very healthy game that we hope to support for years to come!
The Apex team is enjoying a much needed week off right now but we have a fix for this that hopefully goes out next week. Thanks for finding, posting, being patient!
“The data” is a big problem you guys have. It doesn’t seem to matter how many people complain about something as long as the data says otherwise.
We tread data and feedback as both really valuable, not just the data. I'm not sure why you consider data a problem though? Data represents player behavior of all players, and the feedback is important too because it reflects desire/feelings, not past actions.
TL;DR: "We know it's annoying when we deliberately place you in a RANKED game with players 2 RANKS above you, but we don't want the predators to have to wait very long". Cater to the 0.2% of the playerbase much?
Try to cater to as many as possible. Was using Pred as example but same problem exists among other ranks and in the inverse, except lower ranks like Silver and Gold. It's a hard problem to solve, but we hear you and are working on making it as good as we can for everyone. Someday maybe we can do a more in depth dev stream talk about ranked in general and share some interesting data.
Thank you at least for reading these reddit post! Whatever the outcome it is very appreciated. To add my 2 cents, plats playing against plats, diamonds against diamonds, and masters against masters & preds would be a lot cleaner and fair for the players IMHO. Currently once hitting diamond 3 for example, you are basically in a masters & pred lobby (so against tier +1 and +2). Leaving diamond becomes quite hard even if you have a full pre-made squad.
Anyhow, so much passion and reaction from the community comes from how outstanding Apex is. We are all looking for the best and for this game to become even a bigger thing.
Kind regards,
Would you prefer to have the strict tier matchups if it took you 30+ minutes to find a match? Preds for instance only make up something like 0.2% of our users, so it's likely they would never find a match. Hopefully queue times on console would shorted once we enable crossplay.
You understand what you said could have probably been summed up in a tweet? There is a lot of fluff that just makes it seem like a lot. Changing the naming does not require a large paragraph.
The actual change perhaps, but we're trying to be open with the community and share context and data for reasons behind things.
