Quick update: We’ve poked G-Portal about this issue again. It might be a hardware related question, since the other servers in that cluster experience similar downtime patterns.

Were you using Pippi in your mod list?
It was known to cause this lost character issue after the update. If you’re affected by it, we’d recommend a workaround.

Since you mention this is happening in a private server, do you have any mods installed in it? If so, could you provide the list of installed mods?

This is a performance saving setting. If no player characters are at a certain distance, damage calculations (among other things) are not being calculated to avoid performance issues from many simulations going on in the world at any given time.

Today, Monday September 7th, we’re reverting the Summer time decay timers on official servers back to 1 week.
This change will come into effect for PC and PS4 platforms.
However, we’ll withhold this change for Xbox until further notice until we hotfix the performance issues currently affecting the platform.
Please note: changes can take up to two server restarts to apply on every server.

We’ve merged recent threads about connectivity issues into this one for better visibility.
For those of you with mods, please remember to disable them in case they’re causing the issue. Some of the reported issues have been reported in the past by other players and were caused by mods.
As a workaround, and in the case you’re using mods, please try to unsubscribe from all of them, delete the Conan Exiles workshop folder (this step is important and often forgotten) and log into the game to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, try to re-install them one by one until you find the one that is causing the issue.
Those of you having these issues with no mods installed (and the Conan Exiles workshop folder empty), please send us your feedback about the exact error you’re getting, as well as your game logs (found in \Saved\Logs) so we can relay that information to our team.

This issue is caused by one of the mods installed. We’d suggest trying to isolate the culprit by disabling them and enabling them one by one, and informing the author so they can work on a fix.
Please be aware that after each update, issues may arise until each mod is updated to be compatible with the new game version.
