I like this idea! As someone who considered himself decent at pvm (I’ve KCd corrupted gauntlet) but finds it hard to even think about attempting inferno and raid learning is daunting with finding people to effectively carry me while I learn I welcome a shorter style wave encounter !
I believe in you :) Inferno and raids are some of the most fun content in the game, worth the initial pain of learning.

There's too many things we want to do! I'm sure it will be done one day, but time is finite, priorities ever change.
A bit unrelated I guess - but is there a possibility of a quest to come out with this? To be quest-locked or something.

DPS checks are definitely a good way to ensure you have to have decent gear - you can either do the Nex treatment of constant damage or the monsters/boss can heal themselves periodically so you have to have a good weapon at minimum to outdamage the heal.
Self heals are a slightly less abrasive dps check - Red crabs at Verzik are a good example of if you don't have good gear, it's going to make the phase take way longer.
Due to the nature of OSRS combat it's quite hard to have natural DPS checks that can't lead to very frustrating gameplay, unfortunately. I do believe it can be done though, albeit somewhat artificial.
Overall I agree that making sure gear has a big impact on the content reduces how desirable it is to bot, it's a good design lever to pull.

Jokes aside, more interesting midgame content in the 4 player or under quantity would be nice. Not bosses that are easy to master in under 3 hours- stuff like raids that have a huge build up.
Yeah OSRS is really missing some early group activity that actually has a strong purpose.
I don't think this update would really be it, but I like the idea of being able to do it with 1-2 other players regardless.
Also, is Barb ass not a wave-based minigame? So this would be the 4th rather than the 3rd.

It would scale up heavily for sure. Would hope it's somewhat worthwhile at all brackets though.
YES, I love fight caves/ infero style content that has emphasizes mastery over "do it on repeat for 300 hours"
I'm a fan of untradeable BiS being earned, but it's also neat seeing that you'll be incorporating a reason to do the content on repeat for players who decide to master, for reasons outside of speedrunning/ slayer xp.
Really looking forward to this. It would be cool to make more content like this with maybe a two player emphasis as well- I always wanted to do these wave based things with a friend.

It does look really cool. I have one concern tho, how are you going to stop bots and clienters from entering and just steamrolling the entire thing and take all the good rewards at the end? will it have requirements?
Bots can do basically anything these days.
I'd like to think we can put suitable requirements on it to slow them down somewhat, and it wouldn't be particularly more desirable/easier than botting anything else.

All I could think for a new BiS (that could also upgrade) is some sort of ring. We haven't had a new BiS ring ever since the release of OSRS I think? (Excluding the ability to imbue it).
Agree that rings are a slot that are a bit due for an upgrade.

Sounds really cool -- as long as you can choose to end after each wave if you like. That way, players can balance progression with being rewarded. If you have to get all the way to the end to get anything, it will be super discouraging, particularly when you're being debuffed each round.
