The UX for almost everything outside of the actual gameplay is absolutely dreadful and needs a massive improvement IMO. It was fine when it started as a little proof-of-concept, 'lets relaunch osrs for a bit and see what happens' but we're passed that now.

The in-game broadcast system isn't as flexible as I'd like it to be but this is something I'll raise and see if we're able to make it happen in future.

The hope is that maintenance of this nature isn't a long-term/repeating occurrence and is mostly setting the foundation for us to be able to upgrade hardware and address long-standing server issues, at which point we'd hope to see less maintenance like this!

For what it's worth there is a link to the 'Status' page on the homepage on the left-hand side, or you can use osrs.game/Game-Status to check it quickly.

Though I'd hope to see us be able to 'modernise' the homepage a little at some point to better signpost these things. I think the Jagex Launcher would also allow us to signpost this kind of stuff there too so that you'd know exactly what's up before even logging in.

Edit: Hijacking to say that worlds should be back online now!

I was asked about it directly while raiding with pals on one of my personal accounts, I don't actually have an in-game Jmod account! And even if I did, I wouldn't see much point in using it, would rather play the game and progress!

To my knowledge we hotfixed this on Saturday shortly after we first saw it reported. I'm hopeful we'll find time ASAP to look into any potential abuse.

If you know of somebody pulling off similar in the days since Saturday, either drop them in the replies or tweet me (I'd say DM on here but Reddit DMs are a nightmare and I miss so much).

They're not. Content and engine changes can be deployed at the same time and lead to results that aren't immediately relevant to the 'visible' content changes. In this case, an engine change aimed to improve some client stability relating to NPC behaviours is what lead to issues with hunter.

Shouldn't be! Coldfixes tend to require a reboot, it doesn't look like there have been any catastrophic consequences beyond the frustration (or elation for some?) of not being able to train hunter, so I wouldn't expect us to need a rollback here.

Also mentioned in another thread but if you refresh newspost this should have been re-hotfixed to last 150s. Last week's hotfix didn't get picked up is all, wasn't intended!

Comment

Last week's hotfix wasn't picked up by this week's release, post has been updated to say that this has been hotfixed again and Liquid Adrenaline should be back to lasting 150s.

Mentioned in another thread but just as a heads-up, we're aware of this and are currently investigating a fix. Unfortunately will require a reboot, but we're hoping to get things working as expected ASAP.

Engine changes to other things that are separate from the more 'visible' content changes tend to be the culprit!

We're aware of this and looking into it currently!

When is Jagex going to stop with the "apologies" and actually do something about it?

My understanding is that we are working behind the scenes to try and prevent this from happening and level up our servers in general, but it doesn't mean that we don't appreciate and apologise for the inconvenience caused to players when it does happen.

Dropping this on all the associated threads:
A handful of worlds went offline and should have been rebooted at this point. Players should hopefully find themselves able to log in, play and hop as usual.
Some players may find a few minutes' progress (up to a max of 15) has been lost. If this is the case, we're unfortunately unable to restore any of this progress in cases where worlds go offline. We're sorry for any inconvenience caused and massively appreciate everybody who let us know any information about worlds affected by issues.
In case of any more updates, keep an eye on osrs.game/game-status (usually a good one to have in the back pocket in case anything feels out-of-place!)
Thanks for bearing with us, apologies again, hope you're able to get back to 'Scaping as normal!
