In 2007, the year you mentioned, there was a giant chicken outfit for Easter, and no Christmas cosmetic equipment - just an item and an emote.

Yesterday was the first day in 5 days I was able to load up mobile client.
As of 3 hours ago it was fine.
Logged off and when I came back its down. I tried every world / workaround.. not working.

Quick update. I'm at home now. When I'm connected to the wifi it works. When using my mobile data, it doesn't. My wife has the same phone as me but another mobile isp and it works for her. My mobile isp is Vodafone. Should I contact Vodafone or could this still be a thing on your side? Other apps using mobile data work just fine though.
Having spoken to our SysAdmin team it looks like the issue could be on your side. I've seen similar instances with Vodafone before (but haven't seen any other mentions of from other players this time). We'll keep our eyes open, but I'd recommend dropping Vodafone a line (we'll do the same should we begin to see lots of similar reports).
What issues are you seeing? Is it the app not opening (as it was over the weekend)?

can you provide a little clarity around the cause of these issues? is this a biproduct of changes made to protect against server crash/dupe attempts, or unrelated?
