The cakes look great! I also can't believe that "Future Man" from another subreddit plays RuneScape too, nice to see you. :D

This is an intended design feature to allow players who have progressed through Archaeology, to the point of being able to make Binding Contracts, to be able to sell the familiars to those that haven't and make money.
This is not true.
The cost of General Research increases with your level and each site has a modifier related to the level required to start there.
Just to try and allay any concerns, the rewards are designed to be specifically very minor. We're very aware of the race to 120, in particular there are some elements of the skill that happened to coincide with good design for the race, and know that we don't want to have a major impact.
I don't know if I'm allowed to say exactly what there is but its something you could earn in-game normally within 10mins (and this number goes down the higher level you are).
Is there a benefit then to giving artefacts to the museum if it only rewards 60% of the chronotes that collectors give? Or is it just designed to be a sink for your duplicate artefacts, since collectors won't take them?
There is an associated achievement for handing in restored artefacts to the museum if that's you're thing but its intention is a sink for surplus artefacts.
Will the chronotes themselves be tradeable?
Yes, Chronotes are tradeable.
Will invention be required for the Archaeology Elite skilling outfit like the rest of them are?
No, it is purchasable from the Chronote store.
Which of these can we augment?
Dragon, Crystal, Imcamdo, Time and Space as well as the Hero Mattock
Questions to Mod Timbo perhaps: /u/jagextimbo How confident are you in chronote balancing? Will the chronote sources provide high enough inflow to meet the demand? Do you intend there to always be a chronote shortage in the economy so that the skill stays profitable? Do you think the chronotes are the bulk of the profit from training Archaeology, or is it the soil/materials?
There is a deficit for players with regards to Chronotes, it will be difficult for you to get all of the latest unlocks from the store and keep up with General + Special Research AND changing relics. The intention is that if you want to be the at the cutting edge as soon as you unlock items, you will have to spend (and spend big) in order to maintain that edge. If you're smart with how you train, and don't mind a delay in how you obtain items or not being at 100% efficiency, then you should be relatively self-sustaining.
The design for Chronotes has risks attached but thanks to our longevity testing, we've mitigated as best we can. Chronotes should always be in demand for players training Archaeology and those using relics, this is exacerbated for the initial months of the skills as players racing for 120 (or wanting to finish the skill quickly) will need even more than they could hope to earn to cover research, consumable buffs et al.
It's a slight...

Benches!
If they hotfixed it to say barrows item x1, why couldn’t they hotfix it to say barrows totem x5?
Because there is a chance to get a random Barrows item, the fallback for failing the roll is the 5 totems.
There's also a bonus round: https://twitter.com/JagexTimbo/status/1225111217754333184
u/JagexTimbo looks after these for rs3, I do not know if he does osrs aswell?
I do not.
Even if the Garden of War releases with all of the content shown from the Epic Jam, there are still plenty of good features in the Max Guild.
It still holds true that the Max Guild, and to some extent Priff, still has a consolidation of too many benefits and I'm of the opinion that adding an Invention workbench there just exacerbates that issue.
It’s a great step, but why not just coordinate with the PCT discord guys? Complete eldritch is still upwards of 1B and this has it at under half that
This is using actual sales data for the past 30 days and not player-created price checking data. Most of the time, they aren't aligned but that's because price-checking clans/discords/FCs have prices higher than what the items are actually being trade for through the GE or player-to-player trading.
There is an irony in that correcting guide prices to actual prices causes major activity in the trading in that item, causing prices to change dramatically. I tend to keep an eye on the new sales data and make a change in the short-term if necessary.
Dear Timbo, please do it or I'll quit /s (but pls tell us the drop rate)
It's the one drop rate I'll be holding on to for as long as I can.
looks great. passion projects tend to be great ones. im sure timbo has put his heart and soul into this project.
when people are able to do what they visioned instead of being told to do something, it really makes their talent show.
Thanks pal. <3
I don't normally like to comment on rumours but this is so bollocks that I had to jump in and say something.
There will be plenty of information about the new skill at Runefest.
Was he really on holiday for two years?
Link to the actual tweet - it was two weeks: https://twitter.com/JagexTimbo/status/1170990336933617664
