Classes

  • Developers’ notes: To make our raid buffs more equal across varied group compositions, we’re reducing the effectiveness of Arcane Intellect and Chaos Brand from 5% to 3%. We feel this will help to improve the balance of caster heavy versus melee heavy groups when participating in non-raid content.
  • Demon Hunter
    • [With weekly maintenance] Chaos Brand reduced to 3% increased magic damage taken (was 5%).
  • Evoker
    • Preservation
      • Fixed an issue where Rank 2 of Renewing Breath was not increasing the heal over time portion of Dream Breath.
    • Mage
      • [With weekly maintenance] Arcane Intellect reduced to 3% Intellect increase (was 5%).
      • Fixed an issue causing Concentrated Coolness (PvP Talent) to not function properly.

A few moments ago, we disabled the currency transfer function in order to address an issue with the system.

As soon as we’ve got a fix for it, we’ll re-enable currency transfers.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are aware of the issue some players are encountering preventing them from unlocking all of the appearances associated with the Cloak of Infinite Potential after having earned Infinite Potential XII.

In the next patch after the launch of The War Within, players with this achievement will receive any missing appearances.

Thank you!

Please join us for a special test on the War Within Beta realms tomorrow, Thursday, August 15 at 1:30 p.m. PDT(4:30 p.m. EDT, 22:30 CEST).

At that time, only a special realm named “Launch Test” will be available for testing.

Please log into the Launch Test realm and copy your live character or use a level 70 character template and then head to Dalaran. At 2:00 p.m. PDT (5:00 p.m. EDT, 23:00 CEST), we’ll simulate a full expansion launch. Testers should receive the quest to start the expansion intro experience at that time.

Thereafter, we’ll play through the expansion intro and all the way into the first zone, the Isle of Dorn. We’ll aim to end the test at around 3:30 p.m. PDT (6:30 p.m. EDT, 00:30 CEST) and we’ll return other test realms to service thereafter.

Thank you and we’ll see you in Dalaran!

We saw a positive reception towards the updates we made to War Mode in Dragonflight. In the War Within, we’re maintaining much of the structure, with some quality-of-life changes:

  • Trophies of Strife will no longer exist. The only War Mode currency will be Bloody Tokens.
  • Nearly all world content will offer Bloody Tokens as a reward.
  • There will still be two tiers of War Mode Gear:
    • Only Tier 2 can be purchased from War Mode Vendors, purchasable with Bloody Tokens.
    • Tier 1 can be acquired through War Mode Activities
  • Bloody Tokens will now have a weekly cap that increases, like Conquest. Our goal with this is for the catch-up for War Mode gear to be through interacting more with War Mode systems, rather than the catch-up mechanic that we had with Trophies of Strife for honor. Additionally, the weekly quest equivalent to Dragonflight’s “Sparks of Life” quests will offer a large percentage of weekly Bloody Tokens cap.

Hello!

We’ve seen your feedback and want to provide some clarification on PvP currencies as we go into Early Access and The War Within launch. Players will be able to continue to purchase Dragonflight items throughout Early Access, and we will reset currencies on launch day – August 26.

PvP Currencies

  • Honor will continue to be earnable and will reset with the start of Early Access on August 22. At this time, we will temporarily change the honor cap to 4000. The Honor cap will return to 15000 with TWW launch on August 26.
  • Conquest and Bloody Tokens will cease being earnable at pre-season start on August 20 and will reset with new versioning on August 26. These will become earnable again when The War Within Season 1 begins.
  • The PvP vendors for The War Within will not have items available to purchase during Early Access so that all players will have equal access to level 80 PvP gear at the same time.

Season of Discovery

  • The % increase to player health that is present in Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin is now also active in Alterac Valley.
  • Items
    • Shard of the God’s summoned minion now has a 20-yard cone (was 40 yards) and will spend the first 3 seconds of its summon to run into range of a target.
  • Quests
    • “Stave of the Ancients" Demon NPCs will now respawn much more quickly.
  • Druid
    • The bonus on Moonkin Form that increases Moonfire (and Sunfire) periodic damage now increases it by 100% (was 50%).
  • Hunter
    • Immolation Trap now has a 7.5 second duration, but still deals the same amount of damage as it did over 15 seconds. This allows it to deliver all its damage before its cooldown is available again.
    • Raptor Fury now lasts 30 seconds an...

Following the introduction of Warbands, we’ve seen a lot of discussion and received a lot of feedback from Transmog collectors. We want everyone to know that we’re currently working on some improvements to appearance collecting that are planned for the next patch after the release of The War Within.

First is an update to class-restricted gear. We’re working to make it so that non-cosmetic class-restricted gear can have its appearance collected by any class. Appearance collection will be retroactive to any gear in your inventory or bank. The intent is to make it much easier to collect class sets from legacy raids where that gear drops directly.

We’re also still working on the much-discussed update that makes it so that when quests are completed, all appearances from non-cosmetic item rewards will be granted, regardless of whether that particular class could have seen or chosen them. We plan for this to be retroactive, so any quests that you previously completed should g...

Hello!

Thank you for the feedback and interest in variable size raiding in Season of Discovery. The bug that allowed more than 20 players access to individual instances of Molten Core at launch resulted in unintended design and technical consequences and needed to be fixed.

We’re pleased with how this system is playing out in the Onyxia, Kazzak, and Azuregos encounters and are excited to find ways to continue incorporating this system into more raids in future phases of Season of Discovery.

Thank you again for your feedback on this.

Player-characters

  • Steady Flight should no longer be removed after entering an Arena.

Quests

  • We tuned up the Prototype Shredder MK-03 so that “Eye for an Eye” can be completed.

Radiant Echoes Event

  • Increased Flightstone and upgrade Crest drop rates in the event.
  • Reduced the HP scaling on all event bosses so that they should be killable in a more-reasonable timeframe.
    • Developers’ notes: This includes both ‘minibosses’ (e.g. Hogger, Thorim) and final bosses (e.g. Remembered Onyxia, Ragnaros).

Greetings Destruction Warlocks.

Due to an increase in the Soul Shard generation available to Destruction, we are seeing that Rain of Fire is overtaking the role of Chaos Bolt as the primary damaging ability in single-target encounters. To address this, we have deployed the following changes to Beta:

Destruction

  • Pyrogenics now increases damage taken from your Fire spells by 3% (was 5%).
  • Avatar of Destruction now generates 1 Soul Shard Fragment every 1 second (was 0.5 seconds).
  • Summon Infernal now generates 1 Soul Shard Fragment every 1 second (was 0.5 seconds).

Diabolist

  • Destruction
    • Infernal Bolt now generates 2 Soul Shards (was 3 Soul Shards).

We will continue to watch and test and make further adjustments if needed.

Thank you for the feedback!

We looked into this and yes,

The reason was something like a bug or crash that was invoked the instant that the mount was initially supposed to be awarded, and then a fix for that as a result of a recent update.

And there may be other achievements that a very small number of players have been missing, until now.

Hello Arcane Mages!

We’ve been closely watching Arcane, and in particular, the discussion around the most recent change to fix the ability to double-dip on the last charge of Nether Precision with Arcane Barrage.

While opinions on this change have not been unanimous, it’s true that the existence of this bug does deepen the rotational gameplay of Arcane. Given the current state of Arcane and our vision for the spec in The War Within, we’re opting to revert our bug fix for now and allow players to continue to double-dip on the last stack of Nether Precision.

You should see this change on the Beta in the coming days.

As always, thank you for your continued feedback!

Hi everyone,

We’ve got some updates for you as we’re nearing launch. Thank you for all the great feedback so far.

The issue regarding not being able to leave a delve should be resolved with the latest Beta build. We’re also working on better messaging for you when you’re on a team, regarding which teammates are eligible for delves. You should see some progress on that in the current Beta build.

On the content side of things, we’ve flagged objects that Brann should never attack – specifically the Nerubian cocoon. No more Brann surprising you with a face full of webs.

We’ve continued doing tuning to make sure certain classes don’t feel like they’re having a vastly different experience in the delves. Most notably, we’ve reduced unavoidable damage for casters wearing cloth armor.

On that note, we’ve introduced a new curio designed to help Brann feel more impactful for healers. It’s called the Rage-Filled Idol, a combat curio. Players in a healer spec w...
